No thanks. New Jersey would be idiotic to trade their 1st round pick, and without those two defensemen we literally are two NHL-d short of a roster.

Blues decline we dont have the cap for Reilly if we retain you either need to take scandella back instead of mikkola or get rid retention

The Value is okay, but the Blues won't do that. They don;t have the ice time to make Rielly worth the money it'll take to re-sign him. If they somehow move Krug, on the other hand...

I actually wouldn't mind this trade

The first is in 2023 so we won't be as bad. Make it top 5 protected just in case
Bahl would take over Siegenthalers spot
Dermott/Walsh would take over Subbans spot

retention is insurance for the quality of return in vlad, 3 shoulder surgeries in 3 years he has only played 34 games in the last 2 years. Scandella is too costly, taking him would require stl to retain more which i do not think stl would do. Could reduce salary retention down to a $1,000,000. Made it $2million originally so Vlad and Rielly salaries are about the same, Kerfoot is for stl to have someone to slot or move for vlad as is mikkola for the leafs, and the 3rd rounder is for the difference in mikkola and kerfoot salaries.

AZ is getting picks, given what they have done figure they would take a first this year in place of the first of 2023 and then add seconds in 23 and 24, that would give them 8 picks in the first 2 rounds. They are going to use those to stock their prospects and trade for up an comers to have an elite young team

They would be getting the best player in the trade in Marner, leafs would need a D to replace Rielly this season with the STL trade. would prefer to take ty smith but then other players and picks need to be involved to balance salaries

Im saying we cant take Reilly, Kerfoot, and retation on without you taking scandella back thats all I understand your reasoning but the blues cand make it happen trade kerfoot elsewhere and add another piece like a 3rd
So it ends up being Vlad plus retention for 2 thirds and reilly for mikkola
