Free eichel my most realistic way of seeing it happen

Created by: mtlhabs1993
Team: 2021-22 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 1, 2021
Published: Aug. 1, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
COL
  1. Drouin, Jonathan
  2. 2022 3rd round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
Drouin gets a fresh start and could potentially breakout playing alongside Mackinnon as they both played together in the QMJHL. Habs acquire Burakovsy for the third line to play alongside Evans and Gallagher to bring some more skill to their line.
2.
BUF
  1. Byron, Paul
  2. Kotkaniemi, Jesperi [RFA Rights]
  3. Poehling, Ryan [RFA Rights]
  4. Romanov, Alexander
  5. 2022 1st round pick (MTL)
  6. 2022 2nd round pick (MTL)
  7. 2023 2nd round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
Value of 4 first-round picks with KK, Poehling, Romanov, and a first-round pick in 2022 as a bonus since Kevin Adams is being patient looking for the perfect trade. We also add 2 2nd round picks but to the extent that buffalo also takes Paul Byron as a cap dump as he is under contract for another 2 seasons.

4 first rounders myth has been long debunked, Adams is only trading for players he needs

Don't think the deal I offered for Eichel is enough?

not terrible but not great either - looks like a lot until you realize Paul is a cap dump and that's why the extra 2nd and the players are all guys who up to this point haven't lived up to expectations, I mean I believe in change of scenery and stuff but it's hard to believe any of those guys are going to suddenly blossom in Buffalo.

I actually do to a point.

KK is a centerpiece that makes sense. Poehling is another young C with upside they can roll the dice on. Byron is a cap dump but a useful depth piece they can use and flip.

Romanov is the potential issue. Solid prospect value-wise (no question there) but does Buffalo really need another left handed defenseman? (Could always flip one too.)

Still, value is somewhere between fair and overpay so nice work overall.

Romanov is better on the right and prefers the right side. He'd be a perfect partner for Powers in their prime imo

What’s also a myth is this Montreal guy thinking bust KK and Poehling each carry a first round value lol.

Buffalo is not interested in any of Montreal’s bust prospects. Has to start with caufield or Suzuki or else none of it makes sense for Buffalo

KK is a bust? This guy is essentially a younger Brayden Point, as the two are both amazing in the playoffs.

Brayden point had 48 points in 56 games, 23 in 23 in the playoffs. Kk had 20 points, 5 goals, in 56 and 8 points in 19 playoff games. Point had 40 in 68 at 21 years old. Why are you trying to compare them, they are miles apart. MTL really thinks KK is the next Brayden Point?

Guy… comparing him to point is absurd lol. KK played well in the playoffs (not amazing) but that’s the only glimmer of hope he’s shown so far in his 3 year career

Burakovsky has more value than Drouin.
