If Copp is signing at 4 mil/6 years the Jets are most likely keeping him.

MTL isn’t doing that what lmao
Copp is a little upgrade on Lehkonen
We need defensive forward, so Lehky is crucial now for the PK

I don’t see how the team that just lost in the Stanley Cup Finals would be considered a “darkhorse”.

I'm glad because many people are undervaluing Poehling. He is 5 years younger and he's better than most believe.

I half agree with you. Lehky is a massive part of the defensive system built by the team but he doesn't really have a spot right now. I also think that it is crucial that the Habs bring in a more experienced 3C. Andrew Copp just had his best season and has steadily been improving. I believe that he is a pretty significant upgrade on a defensive-minded winger who struggles to contribute offensively. Copp can play PP and PK and brings added scoring to the lineup. This is nothing against Lehky, I think he is one of the hardest workers on the team and seems to be a favourite among the players, but with so many good wingers, it seems like he is the odd man out. As well, we have wingers who are very good defensively. The only player that Lehky really could replace is Byron but Byron is just as effective defensively and brings more to our offense. As well, he's our assistant captain so the leadership aspect comes into play. I think the money used on Lehky could be better served at this time on a 3C who can play up and down the lineup.

Making it to the finals doesn't guarantee you to be a contender, let alone make playoffs. Look at Dallas for example. I understand the injuries but they didn't even make the playoffs. Especially since we're playing in an extremely talented division, no guarantees we even make the postseason. Unless we find a 3C, the loss of Danault will hit us HARD.

I understand that we’re not guaranteed anything, but that certainly doesn’t make us a darkhorse. No one would be surprised if the habs are contenders again.
