I would guess they probably would take it. Especially if Pens retain 275K for 4 seasons and Yotes get Pettersson for 3.75M for 4 seasons.

Especially being that they have Connor Timmons(22) Soderstrom(20) and Stralman(35)at their RHD. And only J.Chychrun(23)as their LHD. Unless u count Ghoustisbhere(28).?? Lol.

And Lyubushkin is a 1 year rental.

Ghost is their 2LD and Soderstrom probably starts the year in the AHL, unless he goes off in camp in which case they just scratch Stralman, so they would rather keep and play Lyubushkin

Soderstrom had PT in the NHL last season. He’ll get every opportunity to win a roster spot in Arizona this season.

And Pettersson is just 25 years old. He’s in the age range of their D-man.

Their top 4 of J.Chychrun(23)/C.Timmons(22) Pettersson(25)/Soderstrom(20) would all be under 25 years old.

Ghoustisbhere(28)/Stralman(35) could be the 3rd pairing. Or Switch Soderstrom and Stralman until Soderstom gets more experienced. Stralman is a UFA at seasons end too.

Arizona values cap space more than they value adding good players. Is pettersson better than Lyubushkin? Yes. But pettersson isn’t worth the contract, especially to the coyotes. The penguins would have to add a pick here. Or, look for another team that wants pettersson at his cost.

I think they go the internal route with guys like Capobianco and Kolyachonok

Petterson at 3.75M for next season and 3 more seasons is a good contract. It’s why I retained the 275K or maybe 500K and make it 3.5M per.

25 years old. A good stay at home defenseman that contributes offensively enough. Has never been a minus(-) in his career. Plus(+) 39 for his career. Long stick, long reach, has contributed on a division winning, play-off team the last 3 seasons.

I would be claiming for Pettersson instead of Ghoustisbhere is I was an Arizona fan.!!
