Smith is a free agent next summer. He’s probably gonna ask for 5.5M - 6.5M. He’s turning 31 next season. I don’t think we should be targeting players over the age of 28, unless it’s a cheap rental. We’re better off using the cap elsewhere such as defense. Or for Laine maybe.

That Broberg trade is huge overpayment but maybe we can do Durzi + Madden + 2nd round. We can trade Määttä to another team for a 7th round pick and potentially not retain any cap.

The A.A trade doesn’t make sense as he’s proven to be a good scoring forward. Unless you were trying to make up cap space and upgrade Smith over AA
