I am happy to see money come back in an Eichel deal, but if it's going to be that terrible Vlasic contract, the Sharks are going to need to add.

Sharks go from one Cancer to another lol. Eichels trade value isnt at Eklund by himself right now. He will either be allowed the surgery or be on the roster until he can prove his value again. Best to hang on to him

Eichels trade value isnt at eklund alone???? This may be the actual stupidest response i have seen on here and ive seen some bad ones.

Think it’s more deep than that.

Like Eichels value is obviously multiple high quality assets - but currently I would not move Eklund for Eichel.

Not because Eichel;

A) isn’t worth it (he is)
B) Eklunds better (he isnt)
C) Eklund is more valuable (not really)

The rationale I think (at least from my own opinion) : is that Eichels injury is way to risky and gone too far. Buffalo has poorly handled the situation and Eichel and the Sabres haven’t done anything to better Jacks health.

Jack wants a “never before seen” surgery (in pro hockey) and the Sabres want fusion (not very appealing as well). I’m on Jacks side kinda but he could honestly get worse or not play this year; or blah blah blah.

I don’t think Eichel isn’t worth a lot. But I don’t think from at least the Sharks perspective it’s worth losing Eklund. With the amount of large contracts we have (which losing Vlasic in this trade is insane I’m disregarding that aspect - the Sabres never do that, even with Eklund or Merkley that’s a terrible offer to both take Eichel and lose vlasic).

Eichel I hope gets traded ASAP so he can start his rehab/ surgery, but not to the Sharks hopefully.

It has been made known recently that this "injury" has been used as a way to get eichel away from the sabres. is he hurt? yes. But its not to the levels his agent has made is seem and that has been aired out now. Eichel has been/is a privlaged ahole that just wants to get his way

I mean; not tryna be rude. But from a non Buffalo perspective I don’t think he’s been that way. I have no biases for Eichel or the Sabres - I don’t think Buffalo has handled this well and I don’t think you fully understand the complicated issue this is if you’re fully blaming Eichel here. Imagine being told you have no say on a (literal) life changing surgery and you want to explore your options and you’re not allowed to? It’s not like we’re talking about something minor here? We’re talking Fusion or some form of Disc replacement.

I don’t see how Eichel should shoulder all the blame

wdym? theres former teammates saying hes not that good of a captain, Eich released his medical records basically saying the rehab isnt working so hes going to need the surgery, which most GMs dont want to let him have also. and he has a 10 mill contract for 5 years.

This isn't enough for Eichel/dump Vlasic and the Sharks shouldn't trade for him anyways.
