That is not a fit for Detroit. You've just left more holes up front for us and added another defenseman to an already VERY crowded pipeline. Also, I can't see us trading Rasmussen right after extending him. I like Copp to Detroit, but this isn't the package that does it...

Detroit laugh Heinola and Copp are nowhere near worth Rasmussen+Fabbri+Detroit's 2022 2nd round pick+Colorado's 2022 4th round pick. That's a vast overpay by Detroit.

I’m going to disagree with both of the DRW posters on this, I take this without question. The only issue is now Detroit has a surplus of D to figure out what to do with.

Edit - Here’s DRW side

I have no issue with the value, I just think this leaves Detroit with some more holes and having just re-signed Rasmussen, it's kind of a bad look to trade him...

He signed as an RFA and the contract ends with him being an RFA. I don’t see why it would be a bad look. It’s not like he’s exactly taking a hometown discount and if anything he’s made quite a bit more money as Holland didn’t send back to the CHL and burned through his ELC.

If Copp is looking to sign long-term in the $4 - $4.5 million range, the Jets can't pay that if they give a long term extension to Pionk. At that point, the Jets need to ask Copp what teams he would might sign an extension with and trade him to one of those to maximize the return. They don't need to add any other player, just make whatever deal clean by making it Copp only.
