You do nothing with the cap space you got from moving Strome, and Chicago is seemingly in “Win Now” mode so the pick upgrade seems redundant and insufficient for a player of Stromes talent. I can't figure out a reason why Chicago makes this trade.

I mean where would you put Strome in the lineup? He's the fourth best center on the team but isn't suited to play 4C. I would love to trade him for a 2nd pairing LHD but I don't see a team that has one up for grabs that could use a center. Closest I can think of is grabbing someone from Seattle (plenty of D, not a lot of centers), but nobody knows what the hell they are doing.

If there was a trade that could be made for Soucy or Dunn with Strome as the centerpiece I would be all over that.

Even if you didn't know what to do with Strome, giving him away for this pittance isn't the correct response. While Chicago may be somewhat *deep* at center right now, that may not be the case throughout the year. There are too many unknowns surrounding Toews, he could have his condition return and have to retire, Regular injuries are a thing and having Strome play wing would give us insurance. A pick upgrade does nothing for us immediately, and it's not even a good pick upgrade at that.
