I have heard they might . Teams would be willing to pay extra for that. Not many ppl can fit 10 mill in

With Tuch on LTIR, you could take out the salary retention. I think the Sabres would be more willing to do that

Everyone keeps saying that but is 2/3 million retained really going to matter for them for the next five years for them if it means getting a return they want? Maybe by year four it might matter but they’re building from the bottom and by the time it might matter the cap will likely be up again.

Heck retain half and you probably could get the moon as you’ll have 20 suitors instead of say 4 which could be better for the team long term

I actually kinda agree, where i differ is the actual cost of the retained money. I figure a first is worth 5 million. Thats 15 million we are retaining, on top of whatever the actual trade was. Plus friedman already refuted that vegas trade, he said its definitely around krebs, but all of the other pieces were wrong. Or just see if the walmart in the desert would be willing to act as a facilitator- maybe they would hold 15 million for a first, nobody else will.

A retention deal would be a different beast entirely but if you retained half and got say an extra first second and decent prospect and all it costed you was money you’re not spending on being competitive it may be worth it

Depends on the rest of the deal and just how much retention.

Take out smith add tuch and I would do it. You could add something else to get rid of cap space. Maybe we could add a pic or two if it’s a useful cap space gaining player.
