Regardless to whether its fair value for Eichel, I feel the Sabres would want more, and Hertl/Ferraro would have to be in the package.

I would want Eklund/bourdeleau before them. What does hertl do for us? He's 3 years older than eichel and we are rebuilding

Dont think the Sharks touch either (not saying the Sabres are dumb for asking). Both are too valuable too move. Bordeleau has progressed mightily and was a standout at the showcase the other day. Eklund should never have fallen too us and it would be poor management to move either (and I don't think Wilson Jr would let Wilson trade either).

Just think the Sharks are very high on Bordeleau and Eklund who both could be phenomenal whereas with Eichel his surgery is a risky flyer attached to him that reduces his price when adding the mismanagement of the situation and lack of surgery/ rehabilitation which both add that he may not see the opener nor do we know if the surgery will be a success.

I would look at it as an extra piece for a little bit of leadership, he's been on deep playoff runs and is a decent player. He would be a good accent to a deal including Ferarro+Meier+Eklund. Whoever gets Eichel gonna overpay big time.

Hertl is also a pending UFA with trade protection.
Even if you convince him to go there, good luck getting him to stay.

Ferraro won't be moved. Arguably the Sharks most valuable piece (with Hertl) (even more so if his upward trend continues) and probably the most important player (our best D and he's only 22). With the haze over Eichels future; Ferraro is too valuable to lose unless we get some clarity on Eichels future (which we wont).

I completely agree, I wouldn't trade him either. but Sabres would want him, If I was the Sabres he would have to be coming back if I'm giving up Eichel.

You could probably see Merkley added as a "replacement" instead of Leonard in this suggested deal (not saying the suggest deal is the best out there). Not sure that budges it much for the Sabres (it definitely improves the offer by a lot imo).

I'd replace Leonard with Merkley if it means getting this deal done.
