So just drop Zucker and Scandella from the trade? I mean I don't see PIT declining that, but I also don't see the point for STL to do it.

Calgary definitely doesnt need more defensive wingers or LD. Not horrible value though as I do like POJ, just not really a need for the Flames, Ryan was replaced by Coleman and Pitlick, Gio was already possibly being pushed down to the 3rd pair if he was still on the team this year

Given the contract Coleman was given he's not going to be brought there as a defensive forward, but more as a goal scoring power forward. Pitlick is fair game.

Statistically speaking Ryan was elite defensively and so was ZAR not so long ago, so I do see a potential place as a 3LW for the guy.

There is a 2nd added.

So would you take a Pettersson+Björkqvist(or insert other prospect of close to similar value)+2nd for Senko+5th?

I still stand by Calgary being a frontrunner for Eichel which will result in Lindholm probably centering the 2nd line with Mangiapane and Coleman, to me that is a very strong shutdown line while also being strong offensively.

I agree ZAR is very very strong defensively statistically speaking but so is Pitlick. My only issue with ZAR is that he blocks our young prospects like Pelletier (or Dube if not traded) from having a roster spot if the plan is to play him with Backlund.
Here is ZAR vs Pitlick over the last 3 years

It does show ZAR is better WAR wise but defensively they are both pretty similar, it also shows Pitlick took a dip from previous years likely due to playing under Tocchet. Pitlicks QoC is also way higher showing that he played against much stronger competition

That also, to some extent, make asset Dube great for the potential Eichel trade. I also do believe Eichel will end up in CGY due to them having the pieces to acquire him, the need and the cap space. I could see them rolling these kind of lines for foreseeable future

Gaudreau-Eichel-Tkachuk
Mangiapane-Lindholm-Coleman
Pelletier-Backlund-AstonReese
Lucic-Lewis-Pitlick

Hanifin-Andersson
Joseph-Tanev
Välimäki-Zadorov

This assuming that assets like Monahan, Dube, Zary and picks are involved in a potential Eichel 3-way trade.

Dont see Lewis playing center, Gawdin or Ruzicka probably get the 4C role. I see Lewis rotating in and out with Ritchie on the 4th line. Pitlick will likely be paired with Backs on the 3rd line.

POJ probably isnt top 4 ready, just like Valimaki, hence why Zadorov was brought in.

Like I said before, I don't think the trade is bad just dont really see it happening because I think Calgary already did a pretty decent job at filling those lost depth holes
