Is getting rid of Dermott really worth just 1 year of a bottom-line winger? Why not just do it for a 4th/5th?

“Gritty”? Have you seen Cousins play? He’s average to below average defensively, and isn’t physical at all. If anything he’s mostly offense. He’s just a downgrade on Mikheyev.

I don”t see the Gritty trade. Don’t think Philly lets him go, regardless.

Cousins is a useful player for the Preds, but they don't have any room for or need of Dermott. TBH if Dermott were on waivers, NSH would still likely pass on him.

He's a meh 4th liner, sure, but he's still a guy who can be an nhl player and is only payed 1.25 for a year. It's not like this is Loui Eriksson. His value is likely future considerations and Buffalo is probably the top team I could see him going to.

Buffalo has enough meh forwards on their roster and are trying to get rid of them why add more, and it only does TML a favor, therefore they pay

Buffalo might be tanking, but they still need guys to play for them. Engvall is still an nhl player on a lot of teams, and he's somewhat young with upside. For free I don't see why Buffalo wouldn't want him.

The Sabres have a ton of NHL players playing for them and have repeatedly said theyre not picking up players that take positions away from the young players, unless they trade him for more than a 5th theyre losing an asset for a player that will be an insignificant blip in Sabres history. Theres a better chance that 5th ends up a Sabre longer than Mikheyev

You meant Engvall I take it? lol because Mikheyev is worth more than a 5th for sure.

Ya it should be more like Engvall for nothing and Mikheyev for a 3rd.
