Honestly drop the retention and CGY takes that easily.

ik, i just feel like he fits the mold needed frm mtl. He's a top 6 center that can be put lower in the line up if\when suz and kk become 1 and 2 center.

He has two years left. He'll pull a Danault once his contract expires, he's not agreeing to a long-term 3C role.

Bad idea to spend this much for a two year asset imo

maybe, i just have the feeling bergevin wants to compete and will do this type of move to give time to suz and kk.

Well he can't, the money doesn't work. They need to provide money to bring Byron back once he's healthy, and this way Habs don't have that.

Drop Demers and include Lehkonen to the CGY trade. That's probably the only way you can make this work monetary wise.

how so? harris and poehling are all easily replaceable by our present prospect pool (norlinder, struble, etc and mysak, evans, kapanen). So, in my opinion, we're only loosing the first and second.

byron will easily be moved once he comes back. he's a great asset for a playoff team, once some of his contract his retained by a rebuilding team trying to get some pick for flipping him.

Easily moved is a stretch, no one claimed him off waivers for free last year. And there's not going to be buyers lining up to get the guy after a long-term injury.

i mean i understand where you are coming from but he proved his worth during the last playoff. he played in every situation and he's know to be a great swiss knife. so i understand that saying he will be easily moved is maybe a strech but i'm sure that every playoff team would like to have him on there team.

That's a lot for Monahan, Poeling and a 1st round pick is more than enough

He did play pretty well, but his cap is an issue. Everyone wants him at $1M or something like that, but little to no one wants him at $3M+

at a future 1,7m$ when half of his contract his retained by a ottawa or some team he will become a great piece for a team in playoff.
