Sean Monahan would be an awesome player to have, but with Hyman, Nuge, Foegele, and Shore on our left, we don’t need him. Also, nice 1c haha.

No way Monahan waives to Edmonton to be a 3rd line center IMO. Also I don't understand why people think we want out of Lucic. We aren't in a cap crunch and he is probably the best leader in the locker room

Well he already waived his NTC to go to Buffalo in this case so it wouldnt matter. Lucic is a big cap hit and Eichel is bigger, in this case CGY ends up with more cap room after getting Eichel which should be intriguing for both CGY and Eichel

Canes pass. Olofsson is fine but think canes would be looking at a more consistent and all around player for that kind of package. He’s too single threaded.

Not true at all. Thats just a misconception that gets perpetuated by people that dont watch the Sabres, not that I blame them for that, but its statistically untrue

I'd give you more and you wouldn't have to take Lucic

I’ve watched more than I would probably care to admit if the Sabres. He’s fine, just would prefer going after other guys with those resources.

Not giving up Lavoie and Savoie to rid themselves of problem contracts that will expire at the end of this upcoming year. Can't afford the contract for Monahan right now and if those two young players develop, that gives the Oilers three years of cheap salary who can contribute to the team then. Goals shouldn't be a challenge this upcoming year for the Oilers so the trade serves no real purpose and doesn't address their concerns.

at 50% they have like 4 mill in cap space left, they can easily afford it. Neither of those prospects are close to the NHL

Lavoie and Savoie are more important than monahan would ever be. edmonton has centers they need supporting Wingers and cheap.

Draisaitl is the second best center in the league. They found out already that splitting mcdavid and Draisaitl opens things up for everyone they can get shut down if they put them together all the time.

Monahan at $3.2M x 2 seems like very good value, but when you actually look at his 5v5 scoring (he's not getting PP time in Edmonton) over the past 2 years it doesn't look like a guy you'd give up two high-ceiling prospects and a 2nd for. At 5v5 he was 8th in scoring for Flames forwards this year with 16 points (and just 5 goals!), last year he was 6th. He's scoring like a 3rd liner despite playing primarily with Gaudreau, who was 1st among Flames forwards this year.

In that light I'm not sure $3.2M x 2 is a good deal.

Lavoie is a year away, Savoie probably 2, but they both have a lot of potential as snipers.
