Agree 100% with Marner Tavares.

Matthews was on a 42 goal pace in 18-19 (37 because he only played 68). Tavares had 47 goals that year with Marner. 90 goals almost with just those two!

Okay....does it make any sense to split up the greatest goal scorer in the NHL today from the greatest passer in the NHL today?........Something does not smell right to me.......No....Marner drives Matthews......and these 2 guys are poetry in motion when they play together....maybe the greatest 1 to 2 punch the NHL has ever seen and they are just getting started......You should smell the roses and enjoy what you are watching with them playing together.

Goodness if you need an 11 million dollar winger to stir the drink of an 11 million dollar center there’s something WRONG. Splitting up the talent makes the line worse but the team better. Matthews and Marner = excellent chemistry, Matthews and Nylander = great chemistry. Tavares and Nylander = good chemistry, but Tavares and Marner = great chemistry.

Putting Marner on Tavares’ wing makes the team more deep. How about we get both 1C and 2C both scoring 50 goals? It’s a lot less obvious which line to shut down when both are equally productive. Either Matthews or Marner are getting the strongest competition, instead of both, which will benefit their line mates and reduce the chance of getting shut down again.

Good points.....but I also think keeping Marner and Matthews together.....keeps both of them in Toronto after they become UFA's.
