I would do that every single day and twice on Sundays, but my goal has always been for the Sharks to pick as high as possible at the 2022 draft. Also, I don't think MTL would do it - Kane's reputation is just that bad.

I wish, but even if the allegations are not true, this scandal (along with Kane's lengthy history of locker room conflicts) makes him too toxic to touch for any NHL team, even the Habs or Canes. As much as I would love to have his cap hit go away via trade, we seem destined to either void his contract or buy him out this season (whether via arbitration or after burying him in the minors for the 21-22 season). Yes Kane is talented and has helped our offense, but its clear many Sharks players are unwilling to have him in their locker room anymore and, if the Athletic is anything to go by, he lost DW's faith as well.

Even for a what if Drouin (if he'll return, if hes dis/interested, just 138 pts in last 4 seasons, injuried, leave of absence, etc...) I have real doubts anyone trades anything of real value for Kane AND even has the cap space to do so.

I just cant see a salary dump: JVR for Kane or an Okposo for Kane type deal....

I'm thinking SJ has to take an almost entire loss and appeal to the league and (ala Mike Richards) cancel his contract.

Somebody will pick him up for a bargain price undoubtably as a low risk/high reward, but I dont think anyone will make a move for a 7mil (NTC) guy who carries so much baggage and might get suspended LONG term.

If Kane is innocent he'll be tradeable (if he waives his NTC) next offseason when things blow over. This year he's just too hot for any team to want to touch.

If he's guilty then it won't matter. He won't be employed by the NHL anymore.

Habs wouldn’t touch Kane with a 10 foot pole. Guy is a cancer in a lockerroom.

All y'all, please wake the eff up... If this offseason has taught us anything it's that EVERYONE is tradeable/signable, and GMs DO NOT CARE about locker room drama if the player produces (especially east coast GMs).

If Kane is still employed by the NHL in September then there will be a GM willing to take him and his 30 goals/szn on. Bergevin has proven to be just as deplorable, and in desperate need of a 1st line LW, so Kane will be in good company in MTL.

Except that you're choosing to ignore the fact that Doug Wilson has been shopping him since the start of the off season without any nibbles - and that was before this latest round of bull. Would another GM take Kane on as a reclamation project? Sure, probably, but almost certainly not with the contract he has now.

Employable yes, if innocent. Tradeable with his contract and baggage, nope. He'd be a guy someone would take a chance on for well below his market value as a UFA contract.

Look at DeAngelo. $1m is well below what he's worth strictly as a player. His baggage tanked his value and earnings.

He was probably shopped around for high value. Now, DW will not get the value he hoped for, but he'd still get something. Drouin is another reclamation project with a comparable salary, so it makes the most sense as a one-for-one.

I do not believe for one second that DW will opt to buy Kane out. Much better to bury him in the minors without any ice time until the right trade offer emerges.

Bury a guy in the minors and don't play him? All that does is decrease his already low (to non-existent) value. Kane needs to put a huge season in the NHL to show he's worth his paycheck (and baggage).

Kane's Modified NTC: Player submits a list of 3 teams he can be traded to. I can think of at least 3 teams that don't have the cap for the $7m x 4 deal he has left. I can think of at least 3 other teams that wouldn't touch him for any free. He'll get paid the same amount to do nothing in the ECHL and he will to play in the NHL; which to be fair is almost nothing due to his debt issues.
