I think you meant Leafs instead of NJ........Mikheyev is going nowhere.......he is ready for big breakout year with Leafs and maybe one of the most important Leafs Leftwingers right now.

Leafs have lots of good prospects at LW. Seems like a waste to give up more draft picks for another LWer. who isn't all that special. Of course Woods would resign, he's an RFA, but at what cost as the Leafs cap is fragile..

They really have no reason to trade him. I would agree with that.

That being said, there is no way that I'm including a 1st round pick for Miles wood. NONE.

Its as much of a pass for me as it will be for the Devils fans about to appear here.

This just isn't a good trade for the Leafs IMO.

The Leafs have their best prospects at LW. They shouldn't be giving up picks just to obtain another one who really isn't that special. Of course Woods would resign, he's an RFA. But at what cost? The Leafs need all the cap space they can create.

He will probably get Nick Ritchie money. I love how the Leafs are constructed now. We don't need any more top 6 wingers. We need to surround them with top 9 wingers who can go from close to league min like Bunting to a Nick Ritchie cap hit

He's not untouchable but the Devils aren't going to give him up this easy. It would take an overpayment to get Wood

I don't need to do that. I am aware of the cost of acquisition there.

Miles Wood is neither Coleman nor Goodrow.

Really??? ... a 2023 first, third and a NHL player/ replacement for Wood? I love the guy, but he's a bottom six. Even with some concerns about getting smaller/softer up front, I think Fitzgerald would do this.

Meh, Mikheyev ... he's no spring chicken, in Hockey years. If he was going to break out, it most likely would have happened already.

True on Coleman, Coleman far superior ... I'd say Wood is different than Goodrow, but could have similar impact. Depends on what the team is looking for.

Mikheyev isnt good, and that pick is 20+, in a year that isnt 2022.

All the NJ ACGM's I looked at have him as their fourth liner. Most untouchable 4th liner in the league smile

The kid just came to North America to play in NHL.....give him a break....and give him a proper adjustment period in the NHL as he is figuring everything out.

How well and how fast do you think you might to a new life if you moved to Russia?

Mikheyev is the real deal and has tremendous speed.....I watched him skate down Connor McDavid in a foot race last year if that means anything to people on CapFriendly.

NJ definitely takes that. Preferably tho if it’s the 2022 first. Sell high on Wood

How fast to adapt if I moved to Russia? Maybe a year? Ive lived in four countries on 3 different continents, only one of which I spoke the language & none were even remotely similar to the culture I grew up in. I was also similar / same age ... Its not easy, but its not that hard either & it certainly did not affect my ability to do my job well. I dont buy that excuse one bit based on personal experience.

He's played hockey all his life & had two (albeit Covid shortened) seasons in the NHL. If he was a player, we would have seen more.

Hope Im wrong about him breaking out, I certainly have no ill wishes towards the kid, but I dont see a player that gets any higher than the bottom six. Guess time will tell.

I hear ya, but Mikheyev is an NHL level player with potential upside, not some fringe guy AHL guy & the 2023 draft is considered a good one. We are talking about Miles Wood here ... for a first round pick PLUS. Miles Wood.
