The when you consider what the 21/22 additions, minus the 21/22 subtractions, I think it helps the Sens some, but really not that much. But the long term the Sens certainly don't get value.

No universe would Ottawa trade Pinto for Dvorak, let alone Brannstrom and a 2nd on top of that. If Ottawa is trading Pinto AND Brannstrom, they might as well go full hog for Eichel.

The defense and goaltending is not good enough. In the Pacific, maybe.

Agree with this, also that Pens trade doesn't work for Pens

I think the Senators are a young, talented, hard working, and entertaining team to watch. They were a much better during the second half of the last season, and seem to have momentum. I don't think now is the time to start making drastic changes, let this group mature a bit and watch them surprise a lot of doubters. The time to start plugging gaps or upgrade the roster comes when they have a legitimate shot at getting past the first round of the playoffs.

Dear Alfie, people have absolutely no idea about Pinto's value

Add a 1st to that package and you basically have Eichel's value

And not only Ottawa wouldn't trade Pinto for Dvorak, but they probably won't do it for Eichel.

If they had already put this on the table, Buffalo would have jumped on it.

2022 1st round pick (OTT)
Pinto, Shane
Brännström, Erik
2022 2nd round pick (OTT)

But what's funny here is the OP is offering a better package for Dvorak than for Eichel?

Agreed for defense, I'd be looking to upgrade 3/6 spots in the proposed lineup

But goaltending is massively underrated. If you followed and analyzed the Sens season closely, it was easy to see that the "team defense" wasn't NHL level at the beginning (reason why they started 2-12-1), particularly when playing on the road and being abused by matchups

Artem Zub started playing in game #10 and things started to improve(he was clearly the 2nd best Sens D-man last season). Inserting Erik Brannstrom also helped as it helped the breakouts. Coaching staff had more time to instill their hockey systems, players got more time to adapt as there was no real training camp and again a heavy roster turnover. Hockey at high levels is very complex, it takes some time to build a team structure... so eventually the Sens figured out how to defend at this level so this is Murray/Gustavsson stats after March 17th :

8-2-2, 1.88 GAA, 0.940 SV%
