That doesn't get BUF to retain $3m for 5 years though

How? Two top centers, one stud RHD, and 1st. Thats equivalent to 5 1sts+.

Keep Addison, drop the retention, convince Zucc to waive his NMC on the condition he is moved by Buffalo after Buffalo retains 50%, Wild and Sabres split the return on Zucc

This would be closer to the mark. I still don’t think MIN can swing it, but if you could get Zuccs cap off the books, MIN would have some options to get creative and re-enter the conversation.

No team is retaining $3m on a top 10 center in the NHL for 5 years (maybe if it were 1 year) -- that's just unheard of. And this deal is basically what BUF's current asking price is, and that's without the inclusion of Thompson and a retained Miller. So why would they retain $3m to get it? They have a high asking price, and why shouldn't they (not saying it's completely realistic ask though) -- they can take their time to find the best deal for them, but I guarantee you that this type would never be considered, Sakic took his time with a Duchene trade and it worked in his favor -- I don't see why BUF shouldn't try to do the same (well, they are BUF, so... lol)

I've also been told by MIN fans that Boldy is not a center, he's a winger. And does Rossi project to be an NHL center or winger? Given his size, do they move him to the wing?

It’s not really an overpay with the retention tbh. But it’s kinda known that Pegula isn’t interested in retention. I wouldn’t mind this sort of deal tho. Don’t think you get Tage or Miller retained as part of it. Like that’s the package for just Eichel with retention (seeing as there’s also a “dump” in Rask in there for the value of the second)

Rask doesn’t cost a 2nd to dump, FYI. He’s a cap dump for sure, but he’s a serviceable bottom 6 center with 1 year left. That’s not a 2nd.

In this proposed deal, he is. Fully understand he has value (as you said, dump yes, but minimal) but even he’s a dump for the purposes intended, that’s the closest value in a one for one from the above.

Sabres should not be retaining salary when trading away their franchise player.

I’d take out some of the extras here. Still can’t see the wild moving both Rossi and though

This isn't happening,,like no chance wild are doing this. They aren't taking on cap dump and worsening contracts and bodies. Also through numerous reports wild aren't giving up both up boldy, and Rossi much less Calen addison.
