If not Detroit, then I'm sure some team would take a flier out on a guy who had 16 goals and 30 points in 58 games in 2020 at the cost of 2 4ths. Minimal risk and high reward. I saw Detroit as a fit as they did the same with Fabbri

NJD declines... way too expensive for an inured player plus taking on that cap hit.

1. He's not injured. 2. If a mediocre 22 year old prospect, a 2nd, and a 3rd is too much for a potential top 6 winger which New Jersey desperately needs then good luck. 3. The cap hit is borderline irrelevant in this scenario, it only lasts 2 years and with NJD's team that should have little to no effect.

Obviously with Tarasenko there is risk, but if that little of a package isn't worth the chance that you get a 30 goal scoring winger to put w/ Hughes then I don't know what is.

I'd probably do it with the 3rd&7th removed, but I'm higher on Vlad than most Devils fans.

The Cap hit being irrelevant to the Devils doesn't mean it's irrelevant to the Blues and the Islanders (the other interested party). If the price is too high, the Devils can still circle back on Tatar.

Not sure Thomas comes in less than Kyrou on a 2 year deal, but you have cap space to account for that.

What about a three-way trade that has Tarasenko & maybe Sanford with a STL 3rd going to NJ, Morgan Rielly (with extension) & Kerfoot (don't need to sign Bozak) to STL, and a STL 1st rounder, Miles Wood and PK Subban (with retention) going to the Leafs. Might need some work, but it could fit the needs of all three teams. STL gives up a first, third, Tarasenko and Sanford to get Rielly and Kerfoot.

Yeah but he followed that up with 16 points in 52 games.

Detroit declines that offer.

We'll give you the two 4ths for Thomas if you're interested.

It sounds like NJD is out on Tarasenko after reviewing his medical records.

Where did you see that? It'd be weird for the Devils to suddenly lose interest due to his medical records, as they've been available to whoever wants them for a month.
