Reinforcements

Description
3-way trade between Arizona, Dallas, and Edmonton that sees all three teams get what they want out of the deal. The term behind both Khudobin and Smith isn't ideal but it's a problem for next season.

Stalock to the Ducks in case the kids don't fare well in the AHL or abdicate to Europe. Minimal return for Edmonton given question marks surrounding Al Stalock.

Does Pittsburgh miss Tanev's grit? I suspect if he's not coming at full price and they aren't giving up a ton for him that they'd happily take him. Goal is to free up cap space.

Samorukov is likely more apt to outperform Lagesson (who i wasn't enamoured with last season anyways) and I dont think that even Russell believes he can handle a full 82-game season. The blueline is a massive question mark anyways so might as well test his mettle.

Give Tatar a chance to earn a bigger paycheck next season. $3M to get your tires pumped by McDavid can't be that bad. Gives Edmonton an elite forward corps that hopefully makes a habit of vastly outperforming the blueline squad. I keep reading that Hyman is more effective on RW than at LW? Benson's game hints at similar defensive utility as Shore without sacrificing any ability to play more than just the PK. I'd run him hard.

I'd imagine they try to buy at LHD at the deadline, but Klefbom hasn't officially ruled out his career yet?

It will take one more 2nd to get Kessel with that kind of retention. AZ is addicted to 2nds.

Hey Better, this is an interesting idea. I like the trades, and I believe it helps all the teams included. Dallas gets a good scoring winger, we get a good goalie, Arizona got draft picks. Pittsburg gets a good bottom 6 winger, and we get cap relief, and decent cheep players.

Kessel's only owed $1M in real dollars and because Toronto's paying an eight of it, it results in Arizona paying less than $500k to retain half of his remaining cap.

If his signing bonus hasn't been paid yet I'm sure the Stars and Oilers don't mind splitting that cash to some degree in order to facilitate this trade.

But they get two seconds…. And it’s only retention for one year.

Forward group looks a lot better, goaltending is better, defense is weaker.

Like over the course of the offseason or because I have Samorukov over Lagesson? That swap is a wash at worst.

I can only do so much when Holland insists on filling his trousers with his own poo.

Sorry I meant compared to last season, should've been clearer about that.. Lol

Though I doubt the defense will be all that bad either.

I love the trade for all the teams. The Stars solidifies their forward core, the Oilers acquire a good playoff goalie while getting rid of Koskinen for only a 2nd, and the Yotes get two 2nds and a better goalie than all the rest of their goalies for Kessel to help their re-build.
