I don't think giving up 1st overall for Zadorov is a good idea

The Flames trade seems possible but I think Calgary views Mangiapane as a lock in their top 6 under Sutter and at 25, he's just above the age group the Sabres new core is in. If the Sabres and Flames talk, I'd expect the ask to be for Zary and Dube as starting points and then either Pelletier or Valimaki along with a pick. Monahan seems a logical cap dump since Lindholm would slide to 2C behind Eichel and at 26, he's not entirely unuseful for the Sabres to help take some of the tough minutes that otherwise fall on Cozens or Mittelstadt. Buffalo sure has the cap room to take money back.

Keep in mind that the cap floor is $60M so your roster wouldn't comply.

Also, with Ventura and Karmanos now on board - and we saw their influence in the Ristolainen trade; draft picks; and free agent signings that all had strong analytics - along with how Granato started benching Eakin last season points to strong liklihood of the Sabres either buying, waiving or demoting Eakin. As a 30-year old journeyman that contributed nothing last season, keeping him on the roster flies in the face of what Adams said on free agency day when he stressed them wanting to keep roster spots open for young players to earn.

Kings have so many RD they need to trade some away, why give up a 1st for one?

So basically Eichel Shane Wright, and a third for Mangi, Zara, a first and a second + Zads…

Flames reject the Eichel trade, they’re not gonna move Mangiapane whatsoever, we will happily take Shane Wright for Zadorov though lmao

Mangiapane is of very high value to the Flames, any trade involving him, Lindholm or Tkachuk is a no for Calgary. Plus we wouldn’t really be able to afford Eichel without getting rid of a larger contract like Monahan’s.

Anyone saying in this thread that the Flames don't move Mangiapane for Eichel is absolutely insane. I love Mangiapane as much as the next guy but it's because he is a guy that every team needs, low pay, scrappy, drives play, drags people into the muck. Not taking on Jack Eichel for Andrew Mangiapane though..... absolutely asinine and Flames home bias at its finest. Mangiapane is even older than Eichel!!!
