My constructive criticism is that the Leafs do not need/want a player like Dunn. We have Rielly and the saviour Sandin. Especially getting rid of Holl to make this happen this team can't get more soft.

I dont think that package is enough for Dunn and I don't feel like the Leafs need Dunn unless they plan on moving Rielly.

I think a 2nd is too much for Namestnikov. Personally I think Mikheyev is better.

Interesting trade with Detroit. I think Namestnikov is an upgrade on Mikheyev but I think a 2nd would be an overpay. Detroit maybe accepts the deal 1 for 1 or with a lower round pick added IMO. Namestnikov can play that defensive role on the third line while providing some offense together with Kase.

The defense unfortunately is horrible. Will get caved in against teams playing heavier hockey. You would have to add one really good defensive defenseman into that lineup at least.

Really 21 man roster don't work. But I think this is so much love for other teams players. As bad as Mikheyev hands were around the net last season, Namestnikov was no better. Mikheyev is a fine grinder and defensive player. I just don't think it's good 1 for 1 trade for the Leafs never mind the Leafs giving up a second.
Dunn, isn't that special. I don't know why so many have so little respect for Holl. Keeping Holl and Mikeheyev gives the Leafs enough cap for 22 man roster. Plus they keep to keep two prospects, a third and Dermot...who might be the odd man due to cap.
I like Sandin and Liljegren and think they will fine NHL careers. Not sure if I want them to be a starting pair though in October.

not sure if Dunn over Holl, but someone who will relieve Muzzin more, so Muzzin will finaly take some breath within the games and wont wear himself down to injury again

Holl wont net you 2nd, hes "Top 4D" only in the eyes of TML homers, hockey world that uses eye-test understands hes borderline 6D

Not sure if 3rd Line is good enough to recreate Goodrow - Gourde - Coleman.

Marner will be already skating back to help D when Ritchie will enter offensive zone....

Just imagine if Mikheyev netted 25% of the breakaways he had last year. There would be a much different tone around him as a player. Hopefully he spends the summer learning how to not shoot at the goalies chest.

I like this as you already know.

We need to keep Holl, so I'd ask for retention on both Dunn and Namestnikov in order to keep him.

What is is valuable about Namestnikov is his versatility, that is the real value in adding him.

I feel Dunn is better than Holl so I'd slot Muzzin and Dunn together and Sandin with Holl.

The rumor is that no one offered St. Louis more than a third for Dunn. So this is overkill.

Detroit will trade you Namestnikov but we're not interested in Mikheyev.

We do need prospects for Grand Rapids though, so make it Steeves and Holmberg and you have a deal.

That was pre-expansion draft when you were basically guaranteed to lose him. But still a 3rd seems really cheap. I heard they were asking for a 1st.

While I agree Mikheyev is a better grinder, I think Namestnikov is more versatile and key would be retention to keep Holl

How do you feel about Muzzin when it comes to injuries?
I felt he was missing when needed most and that hurt us because we have become dependent on him being there.

Mikheyev lack of offensive punch last year was very lacking I agree.

I feel Namestnikov versatility would be more valuable to us.

i tried to describe it in first "paragraph" above

Hes working his ass off on that 2nd Pair to make Holl look like what the current narrative in TML fan-base is, so "Top 4D", hes playing 130% of his strenght and that eventually results in over-burn ( which came to "fruitition" in both Seasons when Holl was attached to him ). It will be coming sooner and sooner each year, the injury, mark my words. Will be interesting to see how "TOP 4D" Holl will be when TML will be forced again to play "Marincin" - Holl pair, after Jake "the workhorse" Muzzin will be out of picture again.

Mostly I have agreed with you on Hill. The problem is the Leafs have nobody who can/has stepped up to play in that 2nd pair and there's not enough cap space to address the issue either.

On a true contender Holl would be a 3rd pair D.

This is a fair take on Namestnikov.

I don't know if Dunn is an upgrade over Rielly and that might be a slight overpay for him too.

I think it you change the 3rd for a 2nd it's a fair trade that Seattle would accept.

Now, he has filed for arbitration, what kind of $$$ will he get?

Dunn signed for 4 million AAV for 2 years.
Ouch
