He only played ten games last season with Buffalo. If he can't make that lineup, how is he going to make the lineup in Seattle?

Can never have too many defensemen, buuuut, that is a lot of defenseman they have there. I'm sure a trade or two will happen eventually or they'll end up losing some bodies on waivers.

Useless player.

Francis should had picked Miller instead. They could use a natural RHD and he could had fetch a good return at the TDL.

Poor asset management. Again.

Borgen isn't useless, he's a right-handed D and I think they want him to become a regular player on their team.

Miller is also a righty D, and would have had a much better shot at being a regular than Borgen.

I don't think this is an instance of Francis screwing it up. Borgen is a cheap RD who's solid defensively & under team control for a few years. Miller is older and only signed for 1 year at a 3.8M cap hit. I think Borgen was the right pick for Seattle.

Quenneville is cheap too compared to the older Zadorov. It was the wrong choice anyway...

That's the thing. They probably want a young defenseman and develop him.

On two separate injuries and he played in the AHL the previous season and had only 4 NHL games the season before that. He hasn't shown he's an NHL calibre player.

Doesn't seem like you know anything about the player. A promising cheap RD signed for 3 more years is better than a under performing vet signed for 1 year. Most Sabres fans didn't want to lose Borgen and wanted Seattle to take Miller.

He played in the AHL the previous season because we had a huge logjam of defeceman. We had 8 D men on the roster (Dahlin, Jokiharju, Risto, McCabe, Miller, Montour, Scandella, Bogosian). He should've been up, but the team was terribly mismanaged. He's a promising RD who's gritty and solid defensively.

When your only quality is beeing cheap and RFA... I new it's hard to grasp as a Buffalo fan, but usually salary is proportionate to talent. A 900k soon to be 25 y.o. is saying everything.

Nobody in Philly would argue Morin is worth more than Ristolainen... God bless Buffalo fans🙄

Did you miss where I said he's solid defensively and adds a lot of grit?

I guess it's hard to admit you were wrong and knew nothing about the player before you posted.

When did I say he was worth more than Ristolainen?

Good signing. Would be silly if they offered him anything more than this since they have so many defensemen. RDs are harder to come around though, so Borgen may turn out to be something in Seattle after all.

good signing played well with buffalo since he just came up this year even tho i don't think anybody knew who he was before including me but anymore would be a bit iffy for me maybe should've got 3yrs but like dunn i think they want to see if they fit in and play the roles they want befor estaying or leaving all in all good on seattle for picking a had decent unprotected player from buffalo that could have a future and he's prolly happy to leave them too lol

HAHA what??? Borgen is miles better than Miller. They picked very well. Borgen will be a very good shutdown D-man if they develop him right
