Oilers Linked To Kessel Please Holland

Created by: ConnorMcJesus_

Description
A trade for Kessel Most Likely Sends Koskinen The Other Way.

Edmonton needs a goalie with Smith if they trade for Kessel. Most likely Khudobin or Georgiev.

I'd rather Georgiev. So I'm going to make a trade for him (Even though it's most likely Khudobin).

Samorukov said he wants to be on the roster next season. Rooting for him in Training camp. I think that's a lethal 3rd pair.

Arizona can only retain 3.4 because Toronto has some retained as well

Why would the coyotes trade 1 year of Phill Kessel for multiple years of Koskinen? All that for a 2nd Rd pick? They could probably move him at the deadline for more, or that asset at a minimum.

Turris is a cap dump, not a huge one but to get somebody to take him you need to send something with him.

Koskinen alone needs a second for Arizona to take him. Then Kessel requires assets and if you want retention that’s another second most likely.

It is one year of Koskinen… and they may be able to get a better return, or they may have to deal with this one if they want him gone.

Archie is one of tippets favourite players judging by how and when he gets used very trusted minutes don’t foresee anyway Holland moves him. I can understand why but also don’t see Holland giving up on kass like that

A $1.65M cap dump? That's not really a thing.

It is when you need cap space and have a player not playing at the level he should according to what he makes. Turris would be a cap dump, probably wouldn't require more than a fourth or so for someone to take him though.

You're talking about paying a draft pick for the sake of ~500k in buried cap space. I can't recall any examples of that happening? At worst you move him for future considerations to a team needing a depth option or to cover an injured player.
Even if you keep him and are that tight to the cap, you have options, such as running with a 22 man roster. Throwing away a pick for that amount is just bad resource management.

Koskinen only has 1 year left and probably could be flipped @ 50% retained for a mid round pick at the deadline (like rittich)

Either way no one pays for 500K in wasted cap space. Especially when they can sign better players for less as free agents.

It is when you guys need to clear space to make moves and another team wouldn’t even claim him off of waivers. Not saying it would require a ton to move him but nobody is paying for him in a trade.

You can always keep him or bury him but he’s technically a cap dump to the other 31 teams in the league.
