Until eichel can prove he is healthy no one will trade assets like wahlstrom for him. He needs neck surgery never performed on a professional athlete before, and has a $10m cap hit. If he proves he is healthy he could get a big return, but no GM especially Lou is going to pay for Eichel right now.

Skating and taking hits into the boards are two different things. Johnny Boychuk can skate, but he can’t see guys coming at him from the side cause of an eye injury and had to retire.

That doesn’t mean he’s healthy to play in a game. He needs some type of medical procedure - either what the team wants or what he wants. He’s not lacing up without a procedure and clean bill of health tho

the procedure has a 6 week recovery time and over 80% success rate

That's pre-surgery. He didn't go through this mess with Buffalo only to do it all over again with a different team.
He'll get the surgery he wanted and then we will see.

But they’re not letting him get it, right? It also hasn’t been done on an NHL player to my understanding so the success rate isn’t apples to apples. Point is, it’s a risk to take him on at this point snd he’s probably worth that risk but if they move him before they prove he’s back to 100% post surgery the return likely won’t be what it could be.

The surgery is a scapegoat hes using it to make Buffalo trade him. It was done on an MMA fighter who gets kicked and punched in the head by other professional fighters for a living, he went 4-2 after. Its not risky

Well it’s not working incredibly well. It’s causing his trade value to plummet which in turn makes Adam’s not want to move him for a low return.

I’m sure it gets resolved at some point but it’s an ugly situation for JE and the org and it’s hard to imagine a fair value return for him at this point.

Agree. Wahlstrom has to be in any deal with Eichel from Buffalos perspective. I love Wahlstrom, he’s an analytical darling and that matches the eyetest, incredible talent. But for Eichel, hell yeah. Eichel is top-5 in the league healthy.

Not really - the real deadline is next summer. BUF still holds leverage until then with the NMC kicking in and another bonus due.

He WANTS a surgery never done on an NHL player before. Been done on MMA and football players. A spinal fusion, the teams choice, has been done on hundreds of players. Big distinction between wants and needs and the values that fall within. Not to mention the component of possibly using it as motivation to get out. Keep the hyperbole down.

You can ****post about Lou all you want but they have like nothing Buffalo would want and the one piece they probably would (Wahlstrom) seems to be missing. He's not going to NYI lol
