He was good for Laval this past season. It will be interesting to see what happens with him, since the Rocket signed 31 year old Kevin Bureau-Poulin to a 1-way contract, and Cayden Primeau is obviously locked in as Laval’s #1. So either they paid AHL level money for Bureau-Poulin to play in the ECHL (which is more likely) or McNiven could be Trois-Rivières bound. Which isn’t commensurate with his skill.

Solid AHL goalie for the habs. Good to get him back but Poulin may take over his AHL role.

By filing for arbitration he has more leverage. It allowed him to get a raise from $75K last year to $100K this year ($110K guaranteed). So yeah, increasing your salary by 47% seems like a pretty good reason to me.
