MAX Eichel offer before surgery

Created by: Campabee
Team: 2021-22 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 1, 2021
Published: Aug. 6, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The problem with Eichel is according to his surgeon in the interview with Eliot Freidman, only 70% of NFL players who have had the disc replacement surgery have returned to the NFL since no NHL player has ever had the surgery you have to take thatas the comparable. That means Eichel has a 30% chance of not returning, that for me is too much of a gamble. Also IF we trade for Eichel our cap is screwed and we will have a hard time signing Suzuki and Caufield

So 2 cap dumps, one average prospect one unheard of prospect, and two picks for a top-15 player...nice

Sabres decline. Plenty of NHL players have had disc herniations and a number of players have had fusion. So good work on getting your info wrong...

It doesnt stand out, theres a boatload on here that are A) a bunch of players the other team doesnt want, and B) players that dont fit any needs for a rebuilding team thats light on forwards and stacked on left shot d. Frankly im surprised its not a top 10 protected pick, thats what a smart business man would do.

Calling Anderson a cap dump is the funniest thing Ive heard in a while. Perhaps if you had him, you could win a playoff series

Anderson isn't a cap dump, Farrell is not an unknown prospect he is actually quite known since he has put up 101 this past season in the USDHL. Just cause Montreal drafted him before he became a known player doesn't make him less valuable. Any Yes that is the most I would give up since there is a 30% chance he never returns to the NHL (based on the comments made by his Dr. With Eliot Freidman. Read description above for more details)

I'm pretty sure the artificial disc deplacement has never been done in the NHL. Thats what all the reports i've read said. Fusions yes, but the the full replacement.

Anways, no team is going to pay Buffalo their asking price with his health being this big of a concern. The gamble is way too big. There has to be some type of discount when you're adding health into the equation.

Fusion is not replacement surgery, go find the interview EF did with the Surgeon. He literally says that NO NHL player has ever had ADR but many NFL stars have and 70% of those have returned to the NFL since that is the closest comparison then you have to assume that the same rate would apply to players returning to the NHL. That means Eichel has a 70% chance of returning to the NHL and a 30% of never returning. Here is the link to the interveiw listen for yourself.

LMAO you realize I gave you 4 forwards and 0 defensemen right! In fact I sent 3 F under 28 y.o. and 2 are centers. It wouldn't have to be top 10 protected as Montreal is a playoff team with or without Eichel.

I know but like the title says; its MY Max Eichel offer before surgery. IF they want more they have to PROVE/GUARANTEE that Eichel has more than a 70% chance of returning to the NHL.

Not seeing any news articles that state he had ADR surgery. All say back surgery for a herniated disc which could mean he had a disc fusion. Since it would be groundbreaking news it would be reported by everyone if true.

I believe he is looking at getting cervical disc replacement (spine in the neck) and no, it has never been performed on an NHL player.
Hockey involves a lot of poor posture with players constantly hunched over, so it's not quite the same as other sports.
There simply isn't enough data available to dispel all the concerns.

Where are you generating these percentages from?

Bertuzzi had disc replacement surgery. ADR = Artificial Disc Replacement

Check out this link. There really isn't any thing groundbreaking about it. They were very common but they had issues with Artificial Discs.

Exactly and since the NFL players have some of the same postures and physical contact using their data as a comparison seems logical. NFL data says 70% return to NFL and 30% never play again.

Listen to the Elliot Freidman podcast link I posted above. He is talking to the surgeon and the surgeon himself says 70 of NFL players who have had the surgery have been able to return to the NFL that literally means 30% don't return!
