7.5 for me but id give him 8.5 if he took 6 years or less. im sure hes looking for 7-8 years at 9+ mill. him and Rielly probably wont re-sign because theyll ask for too much money

Will Montreal pay him 9-10 mil?? Otherwise they're trading a 1st, Norlinder and Toffoli for Raska and one year of Klingberg....

i think so especially if Weber wont play ever again. Thats a lot of open cap space and Bergevin doesnt like to rebuild

I don't see it MB tries to re-sign players below value while overpaying FA's on the open market. Many think that he overpays guys like Gallagher and Petry but Gally was coming off 3 out of 4 seasons of 30 goals (or on pace for 30). Petry on the other hand was a great deal for a top pairing D man even at his age. Then you look at the FA's like Alzner and Benn and others and you have to ask why he would give them that much.

Doesn't make sense for Montreal. Not with Petry and all the mid-range contracts with term recently signed and RFAs coming up for extensions. The bulk of our cap space coming off the books will go to them.
We'll be bargain shopping for the next few years.

It's a really interesting trade and adding Klingberg will increase our RD a lot but I think that Montreal will reject the trade.

i think if Weber is done, Klingberg is a good option and a good fit especially since hed likely eventually be paired with Guhle or Romanov. Bergevin has been interested in Deangelo in the past and Klingberg is a much better version than Deangelo and without all the issues

He won’t get more than 6 years he’s 30. Ideally I’d like a 7x5, but the most likely option is 8x6.

Because he isn’t worth Heiskanen money. I know UFA vs RFA, but still. Also Josi is better than Klingberg, he should get a little bit less than what Dougie got. Dougie got a 9x7 so Klingberg should get an 8x6.

To add to the above. I also wouldn't give up Norlinder + 1st + Toffoli for 1 year of Klingberg. So unless there is a sign and trade where Klingberg takes 7.8 x 5 years and Montreal sends Norlinder + 2023 1st (Montreal probably keeps their 22 1st because they host the draft) + Drouin or Anderson (Toffoli likely stays as he was our best scorer and we need scoring badly)

If he asks for more than 8.5 give it to him then trade him before his NMC kicks in. He’s worth more extended

Everyone here is devaluing Klingberg immensely. He's going to get 6x9, easily. And the Stars will give it to him. He won't be leaving. If they didn't move him for Seth Jones, he isn't going anywhere unless hes determined to test free agency, which is unlikely.
