This is assuming Zucker or petterson are traded before hand but the blues cant really afford to take cap back

Two journeyman 7th-defensemen and two seconds -- one in 2024 -- for Hampus? I don't think so.

I can't see the Blues getting that kind of return for Tarasenko. They're going to get very little.

Also, if Hextall was able to move either one to dump their cap he would have by now.

The recent D market will give Ekholm easily a $6M contract in free agency.

The pens currently have just over 100,000 in cap space. Moving Zucker or Pettersson still doesn’t make this work. And the pens wouldn’t give that much up for such a risk. Hextall has already said he isn’t trading top prospects or high picks unless it’s for a home run player.

Given some of the shocking recent contracts defensemen have been signing this off-season, $6M still sounds pretty low for a player of Ekholm's caliber - even factoring in that he's over 30. I'd guess something closer to $7-7.5 (maybe he gives NSH a hometown discount if he re-signs there, Tennessee being a tax-free state and all).

Regardless, NSH declines. The picks are nice, but Scandella isn't a need for them and diminishes the overall return.

Mikkola is your fourth best LD prospect behind Perunovich, Walman and Tucker. Now if the offer were Simon Robertsson or Perunovich and your 2022 first, that would be interesting.
