Wow that's a lot of money. Guess they're pretty sure Hart will bounce back from last season.

I would have preferred a 1 or 2 year deal with less AAV so that Hart can prove himself before paying him like a starter.

Great signing. I mean, Hart was pretty bad this season but if you look at his stats from the past seasons, he was great and still can easily rebound. He also has a lot of potential to become a superstar goalie. Love this deal for the flyers.

Hope he bounces back. Young goalies are so tough to tell. This bridge deal could be a steal. Could be awful.

Hart can only go up since last season, I’m pretty sure he’s going to have a good bounce back year and this is going to be a great deal.

He’s not gonna have an .877 again. He’s a proven great goalie with a lot of potential.

It’s a bit of an overpay for how he’s playing now, but it could end up being a steal in years 2 and 3. I’m surprised Hart didn’t push for a 2 year term.

Really a hit or miss.

Idk if his rookie season should warrant a payday like this based on how poorly his rookie slump campaign (this past year) went.

I mean it could work out and that’s what Philly hopes for. Idk 4m for a guy who hasn’t proved much… I L O V E Hart but still..

I think he may be good in the future, but seems like an overpayment for right now, Id say this would be a good deal for him in 3 years from now..

This is such a weird AAV. You have to wonder if Hart's agent did that retail price trick and convinced him that the contract was closer to 3 million than 4 million.

I think he did it because of his jersey number (79)

Im going to vote no simply because the 3.979 is annoying. They should have just made it 4M

This guy has a lot of potential, hopefully he was able to figure out his problem from last year, whether it was mental or physical. I’m excited to see how he preforms, this Philly team has a lot potential can’t wait to see what they do.

Playing doesn't mean playing well.

I'm sure Heart could be good one day, and he has shown plenty of potential. But there's no need to pay for potential. The only way he warrants this cap hit is for longer term. I don't know what he's done to be worth even half of this in the present.

It's too much given how Hart fell off a cliff this year. If he outperforms the deal, they're gonna have to pay up more than they would have if they just gave him a one- or two-year bridge. If he does not outperform the deal, that's one unnecessary albatross.

57th in SV% over the last 3 years (among goaltenders with are least 20 games).
22nd in cap hit among active goaltenders now.
Granted, he had 1 bad year that really killed his numbers, but you have to think less term at a lower price would have been more prudent for both parties.

If you're a team trying to get a deal, you want to walk them to a point where you can get them locked up long term for less than they will be worth.
If you're a player trying to get paid, you want short term after a bad season to raise your value with a better performance, or you want as long a term as possible before your performance declines.

3 years @ $4M isn't a big risk if he goes bad, but that's an extra UFA year or two on the next contract, which could make a significant difference if he performs exceedingly well.

I said Yes...
Still an RFA at the end of the deal.
Room to improve his game; he knows that 100%.
If necessary, he can be dealt to some pigeon GM (might be one or two in the league based on the last couple of weeks LOL).
And Philly now has 22 NHLers signed & US$4Mil in cap left so they seemingly have that part of their game worked out.
