All In for the Tank

Created by: MNBassman
Team: 2021-22 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 7, 2021
Published: Aug. 9, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
20 years of mediocrity is enough! It’s time to get bad for a year or two and regroup with the Wild’s impressive cupboard of young talent.
LA and Car are both looking to win now, and both have impressive talent pools. Whether or not these two deals make sense, there are certainly trades to be made with these 3 teams. Make counter offers please.
All players acquired on the Wild’s roster to look at the future and evaluate the trades…not because they will all play in the NHL this season.

Nah, Kings are good, they can't even afford Kaprizov this season.

Kaprizov isn't the reason, it's his agent as Russo has stated. If not for agent deal would be done

- why are we Minnesota always wanting the worst? The idea of rebuilding isn't happening with Jared spurgeon and jonas brodin and Marcus foligno contract along with Joel Eriksson Ek, etc... let's stop panicking

This has nothing to do with panic, but everything to do with being realistic about the Wild’s next 4 years.

It’s all hypothetical here.

IF Kaprizov will only sign a 3 year deal, it’s unlikely we would pay market for him when his next deal comes. The best case for the Wild would be to move him for futures.

IF Fiala doesn’t come off his perch, it’s pretty likely he’ll get moved.

Those 2 guys don’t make us a cup contender and getting through the buyouts with young high end talent ready to go when we have cap space again is a very measured approach.

And last year is not a good benchmark to use. We will be in a much stronger division and there is a 50/50 chance we make the playoffs with or without Kap and/or Fiala.

There is being realistic than also respectfully seeing things through a,fans eye , and not a front office eye. The Jared spurgeon contract, jonas brodin contract. Etc isn't going to make rebuilding especially several years rebuilding happen, or realistic

Both Spurgeon and Brodin have the term to survive a rebuild, so I don’t see what their contracts have to do with tanking. I’d actually love to move Spurgeon in 3-4 years of possible, but that’s beside the point.

You can still rebuild with those contracts on the books.

This is me splitting hairs a bit, but I would like us to do better than Drury for a prospect in a Fiala trade. I think you’d have enough suitors where you could get someone a little more surefire.

Regarding those D men, they play games that age well. That means they will be productive in some way while the younger guys start to take over. And I think they will actually make it easier for young guys to develop given how good they are.

I see your point about being a fan and wanting things now, but I think most of us here see that we aren’t ready to go all in for 1 year. Yeah it stinks but there’s hope.

Let’s keep the Spurgeon slander for a much later ACGM. I will not stand for it.

I love fiala but if it means losing drury I would pass. Swap Drury with Suzuki and it would be a better deal.

I'm tempted to go full Buffalo on you and tell you that I need Drury. Suzuki, and a first wink

Fiala is good but he is not on Eichel’s level of talent and full of himself attitude. Would love to have fiala in a canes jersey still.
