I don't think the Panthers have interest in Petterson. If he doesn't bounce back, his contract isn't looking too good. He isn't the guy we're looking for, but would really limit our ability to sign Barkov next summer. Any chance you'd move Dumoulin instead?

It would take alot to move Dumoulin. Like alot.

Pettersson doesn't need to "bounce back" he was very good for the Pens this past season.

He was a 3rd-pair defenseman. Matheson, who was horrendous while in Florida, took his spot on the roster.

Deployment is irrelevant. He had the most consistent shot and chance supression results of any d-man on the Pens.

Also, Matheson wasn't terrible in Pittsburgh. He has slightly above average.

I did not say Matheson was bad in Pittsburgh. He was awful in Florida.

Pettersson is not what the Cats need, we need a guy who can complement Ekblad in the first pairing for 20+ minutes a night. That's kind of the end of story.
