Prove it deal, not bad at all. I think they would have been better off locking him up long-term. W.

A little surprised they went back to the Samsonov-Vanacek duo. But they do have a ton of potential. This is a good prove it deal

Hopefully he can prove himself this year. Great contract, high rewards no risks.

Great prove it deal. 1 year is low risk if Samsonov falls off. Low risk deal so there isn't much to complain about here.

A little expensive but the goalie market is insane right now so not surprised this is the number they got. Pretty much no risk with the one year term which is the right move for the Caps. If I were Sammy I would've wanted longer term considering how inconsistent he is on and especially off the ice. This also looks like this is the last real move of the off season for DC and the roster is pretty much set.

Washington should have pushed for 2 years; they had all the leverage. Now if Samsonov plays well he will have arbitration rights.

Where do you get that info?

For what it's worth they don't pay tax I heard. But some teams also haven't paid in the past (but those stories are 5-10 years old)

2 mil is expensive for your starting goalie? Outside of last year this is probably the lowest you've paid in 10 years...

Brilliant. Give him a year and if he doesn't pan out trade him. If he does then he gets a big deal that he deserves.

Good deal here. Interesting to see what Sorokin signs for after these 3 goalie signings (Aug. 9th).
