High numbers, but he deserves it. Been a fantastic goalie for NYR so far in his career, excited to see what’s next for him.

Steal for team and player. This kid is something special. It would have been better if the term was longer.

do I love this deal? No. Is it one of Drury's best moves this offseason? 100% yes.

Goalies are weird and this is a fairly high cap hit but this guy has all the tools to be real good

So are we man, I would legitimately play him 70 games a year if he was fine with it

Great deal for the Rangers. Shesterkin is always a stud in nets for them and I'm happy to see him get paid. From NYR's perspective, I would've tried for a couple more years but this is still fantastic.

Term is meh. This guy is going to be the next Bobrovsky, getting that $10M contract just as he's turning 30.

Personally I think this is a little too much to give someone with 47 games of NHL experience. I don't think you should be dishing out money and term unless they've played a few seasons (like 100 games).

No goalie, except maybe Vasy, isn't worth wasting 10% of your cap space since they're that fickle. All of these contracts tend to end up in failure.

Interesting. I was expecting essentially either Binningtons first deal as a bridge to another RFA or his current deal ish for term. They settled in the middle on both aav and term.

I think shesterskin wins this deal as he gets a good starters salary (but not stud) but he's a Ufa in his 20s.

Rangers got most of his prime I suppose.

If I were Rangers I'd have rather given him a mil more and tried to make it 6

It's rare that a goalies contract looks bad when signed as an RFA before the age of 30 or so. It's the long term deals when they're older that suck

Honestly I was expecting a $6M+ contract at 6-7 years. Getting 5,5 with only 4 years is a bit of a let down, although for that active time frame it's not bad. This contract is set to be followed by a dreadful one, which is the one thing I'd be concerned of if I were a NYR fan.
