Last CBA and I think it was to relieve the pressure on players to resign for picks for their old team, or something like that

Forget about the conditional - why would the canes trade a decent prospect and two picks for a rental? He doesn’t re-sign with the Canes, he’s a veteran top 9 forward and will ask for more then they will pay. This is not a Canes move, maybe last year when he had an extra year of term.
