I think buffalo takes that.
Boston might do that, debrusk has struggled a bit, might not get a first though.
Islanders pass, I don't think they would want to trade Wahlstrom for anyone right now, especially a struggling gaudreau.

Thats definitely not the only way, you could easily keep Gaudreau and just trade Debrusk to Buffalo instead of Pelletier.

Gaudreau is also worth way more than that

You can keep them both for at least another year like this: http://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/2704613

That one is also quite unrealistic as I explained before

Personally DeBrusk does not excite me, seems like a tweener, not enough offensive skill to love him in the top six not enough grit and defense to love him in the bottom six.

I understand it is easy for this season - it is next season when we need to extend JG and AM and Qualify TK that I see the issues. The Pelletier / Debrusk swap could help a lot though.

I also believe JG is worth more than this but didn't want to put up with the typical "struggling Johnny BS" from everyone on this site who thinks Flames players are essentially worthless.

How much of a raise do you think the 3 of them would get combined? I dont think its more than 5M

I think Boston would probably accept, but I don't think the salary works out. Calgary might need to retain $1-2m, or take back Moore or Wagner or something.

If CGY makes the Eichel deal and keeps JG, Tkachuk, and Mangiapane (optimal to keep all three of course), then I expect contracts going forward are:

Gaudreau: $8.5M AAV x 5-8 years
Tkachuk: $8.5M AAV x 4-6 years
Mangiapane: $5M AAV x 3-6 years
Total AAV increase = $5.825M

Yes, Tkachuk has a $9M QO level. My hope here is that he would see playing with Eichel and Gaudreau makes one of the best lines in hockey and agree to sign a slight discount.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the total increase from current AAV for these 3 players ends up closer to $6.375M (ie. Gaudreau $8.5M, Tkachuk $9M, Mangiapane $5.5M)

And in the latter case, CGY would have to look at shedding a chunk of salary elsewhere to make it work. Backlund or Lucic are the prime candidates in that case…

Hard to justify Gaudreau getting above 8M after the Hall and Landeskog deals. If he just wants money he wouldnt extend in Calgary.

Tkachuk's QO is irrelevant because Flames will file for arbitration to void it anyways. They can still sign him for 8.5-9M he just cant force a 1 year deal by accepting the QO instantly.

Mangiapane at a 3-3.5M raise sounds anout right. So lets assume 8, 9, and 5 for all 3, same nimber as you for simplicity sake.

I personally dont see Zadorov getting more than 1 year, and similarly i think Valimaki will be signed for 2 years at around 1M with the intent of him becoming a top 4 guy and Mackey coming up next year (I am also assuming Stone is resigned for dirt cheap). Both Pitlick and Zadorov coming off the books should cover most of the raises, the cap is also projected to raise by at least 1M too. There is also the option of moving Lucic after his signing bonus, or he may just retire.
