The impending cap hell the Canucks will soon embark upon may suggest otherwise, but hey, what do I know.

Cap hell? We have 19 million in cap space this year. We have even more next year. We aren’t in cap hell. We are just not super cap flexible…

Is this also what you think the Canucks line up would look like or did you just not bother to actually make the team?

Don't think Quinn to NJ ever happens via trade because the asking price will be too high. But, I do believe that once Quinn becomes a UFA, you guys don't stand a chance in signing him. He is going to want to play with his brothers in Jersey. At that point, all three brothers will be in their prime and the Devs could literally build a Hughes dynasty.

Or they plan to go to DET 🤔 for obvious reasons but it would be faster and easier to all join NJD

I think Canucks should consider the trade. I'm betting that the Hughes want to be united as soon as possible. The delay on is contract might be term if he wants out of Vancouver in four years. IMO it isn't isn't necessarily good to have three brothers on the same team. There might be a tenacity to worry about themselves instead of the team.

It’s already been stated that he is committed to Vancouver.

Means absolutely nothing what is said he public. The Canucks management and Hughes certainly don't want to "throw each other under bus" during negotiations.
Do you believe when players says, "I want to stay with my current team" Then months later they sign as UFAs elsewhere. Or GMs say "We are committed to our group", then trades are made.
GMs saying "We aren't making a coaching change, he's our guy", then shortly afterwards the coach is fired.

Coaches, GMs, players don't show their hand especially in contract negotiations to the public. They have to something to the press/public, but c'mon so much isn't true.

Doesn’t matter. He’s still staying in Vancouver for a while. He has to be signed, he can’t be offer sheeted. I don’t Quinn is the kind of person to completely tear down an organization just to be with his brothers. He has literally no leverage to go to NJD and just because his bros are there doesn’t mean he immediately wants to head over there ASAP. I mean look at the Staal brothers. They were on the same team but later moved onto different teams. Quinn Hughes most definitely will not be traded. The most likely scenario of him leaving is in UFA in 8-11 years

For the next four years, Quinn doesn't have leverage to whether he goes. But I believe in four more years he can be a UFA. So for now he stays. But I suggested the contract negotiations hold up may be in term, Canucks may want to it go into his UFA years, and Quinn's preferance might be to gain his UFA freedom ASAP

Since the possibility exists, why not right?

Smith has some serious game, and far more well rounded a player than Hughes imo.

Offensive D of the likes of Quinn may not come along often, but, often their defensive game is suspect, if not non existant - we could ask Marc Methot about that

Even from a long term cap perspective, this is something Benning would have to at least entertain.
