Schneider is top pairing and Robertson is #4 at best so let’s say bottom pair(Nemeth type)

He wouldn’t have a spot Dahlin, Power, along with Ryan Johnson 31st overall pick in 2019, and Samuelson 32 overall in 2018 all on the left side.

The Sabres need help with right side defensemen. Schneider could work well.

Yep. But I think they should aim to get young forwards instead.

Unfortunately you aren’t receiving 5-6 pieces that will fill your long term roster. Some will be assets that you will move for something else later or immediately.

The Sabres do not need multiple pieces if there are impact players readily available to help tool the roster to compete. They have enough assets now to develop in the system and to draft.

When you trade a top 10 center you need to get a high end forward prospect hopefully a center one too. Forwards are more impactful than defenseman too.

If the Sabres are looking to compete, would you want impact players (players that play in the NHL), or prospects (players playing for Rochester, Cincinnati, or elsewhere)?

Are competing and winning the Stanley Cup pointless for any National Hockey League team?
