BUF passes

Do they? Romanov is an A prospect. 2x 1st. Pohling is a B prospect. Drouin could be good for buffalo and can be flipped this year or next. Byron is overpayed but performed super well in the playoffs but probably has negative value.

I think they would want KK in the trade, but I didn't like Montreals roster without KK.

I think Buffalo considers this.

would be KK if anything. But Romanov is a super nice piece as well.

Romanov would be a 3rd pairing defenseman with Dahlin and power on the left side.

dahlin, power, romanov, jokiharju - That would be a very nice starting point. Romanov is listed as a left/right dman.

That's the problem. Romanov just doesn't have as much value to Buffalo. Wrong piece. They're in good shape on D. Desperately need forwards. Add KK in his place and you probably have a deal.

Won't (and shouldn't) be Caufield or Suzuki. Zero chance.

The problem is the high end piece in this trade is a LHD, Romanov. Literally the only position BUF doesnt need. At best he'd be 3rd in line behind Dahlin and Power. Not that there isnt value there, however, for BUF it isn't the right value.

I don't want KK to be the centerpiece of a deal either to be honest. The center piece of an Eichel deal to me needs to be a A prospect with a superstar level ceiling. That being said, I wouldnt consider an offer from MTL unless Suzuki or Caulfield were involved. If that's a non starter, then so be it. Trading in divison bumps the value.

Not saying there couldnt be a package without CC or NS that wouldnt work. But, that would also be unlikely. Example: KK, Romanov, Another good prospect, w/e cap dump, and a 1st.

It's a fair offer. Sabres would have to hit on the picks, Romanov looks good but Poehling is iffy. Sure the Sabres have to eat 8.9m in maybe poor contracts for two years, but then they have 10m to spend with out having Eichel on the team.
As indicated by other switching Romanov for KK might be it work.

I believe Romanov plays RD, even though he is a left handed shot.

Still sabres need to get a high end forward prospect or a young NHL player, when they move Jack.

Everyong making these threads for Eichel forgets that we have Zuke and Caufield as well as whichever of Romanov, Kotkaniemi and Primeau remain with the team in the next 2 years. There really is no way for Montreal to fit Eichel's contract and unless he has recovered from surgery, it's really not even worth the risk.

Future is finally bright for Montreal... don't trade the farm for a guy who likely is not the answer.

Bergevin really doesn't like to go big.
Weber - Subban
Drouin - Sergachev
Anderson - Domi - Galchenyuk
Suzuki - Pacioretty

Those are his big deals. Everything else was (arguably) overpaying UFA's and bargain shopping.
Armia and Tatar were from cap dumps, Petry was a rental, and Danault was basically insider trading.

He's done a decent job with minor moves, but he doesn't really upgrade or sign big name free agents. Most of his moves are lateral, a lot of them don't pan out, and some work out better than he had any right to expect.

They also have the 32 overall pick in 2018 and the 31st overall pick in 2019 at Ld. Their defense will be set for awhile.
