Absolutely not. Kessel is terrible now. He is not worth a decent prospect and a 2nd round pick.

I can see your thought process but I'll contribute to Sully's stroke fund now just in case.

Right?!?! 43 points in 56 games last year. What a piece of trash.

Kessel has not produced as much for the Coyotes as he did for the Penguins. If he was still with Pittsburgh, his production would be higher, and the Penguins could have gone deeper into postseason play in 2020 and 2021.

If Arizona retains a percentage of Kessel's salary, the Penguins could send Riikola and and prospect losing in development competition to the Coyotes. If the Penguins valued Riikola, he would have played more.

Riikola isn’t part of this package and Legare isn’t a prospect losing in development competition. It’s Legare (a top prospect that plays the way Hextall and Burke love) and a 2nd. Neither of which Hextall or Burke want to give up unless it’s a absolute amazing return. Not to mention the reason the pens traded Kessel in the first place was because they didn’t want his bad habits rubbing off on the younger guys as it was starting to.
