Need a bit more from Minny and I think its too much from NYR if Zib is involved. But I love the idea

Minnesota has no way of signing Z so its purely rental, cant see them giving up to much

They likely wouldnt want him as a rental only though, given how terrible their centers have been in recent history. IMO obviously. Likely have to take Dumba back in the Zib trade, or someone with that kind of salary. Maybe Zuccarello?

i think theyd be interested in Zib - Zucc reunion, Wild fans would get up set if we took Dumba away but the Sabres could flip him as well @50% retention, for a similar return that Seth Jones got

If the Rangers were ever willing to add Kakko, this deal would have been done weeks ago. No reason for Drury to up his package, let alone to this nonsense return.

One of the worst Eichel deals posted (that favors the Sabres category) to date.

Eichel doesn't have this type of value, at the moment.

Never mind the fact that out 1C (who would never waive his NMC to go to Buffalo directly) being involved should have lowered the cost a bit more.

But then trading away our 2 young RW'S (after Drury specifically traded away Buch to make room for them both) only makes things worse.

Kakko isnt even enough, thats light from the Rangers.

It doesn't matter who goes where. Even with Zibenejad in Minnesota, the trade doesn't work.

Mainly due to the fact that really NO trade for Eichel works. His medical issues are that concerning.

Even if the Rangers acquired him for a 6th Round pick and nothing more (hypothetically), and he ended up being half the player he was over the next 5 years, having a $10M anchor in the middle of your lineup (during a Flat Cap Era) is a death sentence.

He's not getting moved this Offseason. Too many assets being moved, to acquire an expensive player with a major injury. Buffalo just needs to keep him and then try again towards next years Trade Deadline.

His medical issue isnt a concern at all. Its a 6 week turn around. You can blow it out of proportion all you want, its not a valid excuse to lowball Buffalo

Lowballing a trade for damaged goods? That's completely justifiable.

The Draft (the best time to move him) has already passed. Teams have dropped out left and right, finding other means at C (the Kings settling on Danault, for example). The top Free Agents have been picked clean, and still no deal.

It's no longer an opinion if teams are worried about his medicals. They are 100% worried about his medicals. Hence the reason they are getting lowball offers, or none at all.

The Sabres Front Office has handled this poorly from the start. The only "leverage" they have his holding onto their disgruntled superstar, hoping to get their desired package at a future time.

Yeah, hes not damaged goods. As stated multiple times youre blowing it out of proportion and that opinion is not going to be taken seriously

When a team puts a 1C (and Top 10 Forward) out on the Trade Market (which is unprecedented, in itself), and NOBODY wants to make a truly competitive offer to acquire him, that's more than suspicious.

It probably means the injury opinion is being taken more seriously than you think.

If you think hes being traded because of his neck injury youre very misinformed, his neck injury is a scapegoat, his problems with the franchise run much deeper as well as his apathy for the city itself. Teams made competitive offers, but wouldnt give up players like Zegras and Krebs or in NY's case Kakko and Laf together. I actually do agree those players probably shouldnt be moved unless theyre 1 for 1s for the same reason i'd turn down a lot of Eichel trades

No, I don't think he's being traded BECAUSE of the neck injury. The team is going nowhere, he wants to go to a more competitive market, and is forcing his way out.

I'm just saying the neck injury is what has lowered his stock and prevented the trade from taking place.
