Description
Lines are what I would think they would be once Rossi is up probably mid season. Bjugstad would probably be odd man out. In the next offseason I can see Zuc or Dumba getting traded as a cap casualty. Greenway could be gone also. If Gologoski is re-signed at a 2M cap hit, and Zuc or Dumba is traded, should have about 8.7M (assuming cap goes up 1M) in space to sign 6 guys.

I would look at it as what will Nashville pay me to take 6.5 mil of salary off their books. And I think RyJo will age better but if we keep Fiala, Duchene would match up much better with him. I just wonder if his game is gonna fall off soon.

Agree with that, I think Duchene would be cheaper because he’s a year older and has 1 more year on his contract than RyJo, maybe it would be Rask+Kohv and a 4th for the same retention as RyJo?

Why are we paying anything for a contract we can't afford to take on?

*IF* we take in one of these guys, we should be getting paid to do so.

A ton of retention, and taking a cap dump back for a pretty minimal return? Sorry, but NSH doesn't consider this.

The return would be not having ****ty overpaid players taking up 8M of your cap space for the next 4-5 years.

Just trying to put out some sort of realistic trade offer, Khov + 2nd and 5th is for them to retain money for 4 years. I think the 2nd and 5th would get min of 3m retention maybe 4m of retention and Rask is to make the cap work this year. I think RyJo is a victim of Hynes’s coaching and needs a change of scenery. Since Hynes took over in 2019 RyJo has 78 GP and 33P before that he put up 60+ points 6 years in a row. If he could be a 50 point guy he would be worth the cap hit.

A 2nd round pick doesn't get 3M retention for 4-5 years. The reason it would be that cheap is because they're getting value in dumping the rest of the contract for the 4-5 years.

For a good player, 3M in dead cap for 4-5 years costs a 1st++.

Ryjo would be a better gamble than Duchene. 1.5 years younger, 1 year less term on contract, and (here's the biggest thing) the buyout (heaven forbid it would come to that for either player) is a lot more team friendly for Ryjo than Duchene. Ryjo's buyout (if necessary) is feasible. Duchene's is UGLY. I think Nashville is willing to deal either player in the right trade. As far as retaining any salary on either, is very questionable, unless you really sweeten the return.

So what would your trade be here? Or should the wild stand pat and pray Rossi is a top 6 center?

In my previous comment meant to say Kohv+2nd+5th should get about 3M retention, considering they would get 5M off the books for next 3 years (after next year)

Nothing and hope Rossi turns into something. Run with what they have until the TDL and see if getting a rental to make a run if it's warranted.

Without knowing what Karprizov and Fiala deals will be MN has their hands tied for making moves, there are just too many ifs and buts right now for the team.

I think anything the Wild want to do involving player movement is on HOLD until the Fiala and KK contracts are done. Cost certainty and Cap implications have to be determined on those 2 before you can even think about taking on players with term.
