This is by their birthplace (what is listed on the NHL’s website) hence why Matthews isn’t Arizona and Tkachuk isn’t Missouri, etc.

If a state doesn’t have a player, that means there aren’t any active NHL players hailing from that state.

Alabama - Nic Dowd
Alaska - Jeremy Swayman
American Samoa -
Arizona - Brady Tkachuk
Arkansas -
California - Auston Matthews
Colorado - Jaccob Slavin
Connecticut - Max Pacioretty
Delaware -
District of Columbia -
Florida - Jakob Chychrun
Georgia -
Hawaii -
Idaho -
Illinois - Christian Dvorak
Indiana - Drake Batherson
Iowa - Cal Petersen
Kansas -
Kentucky -
Louisiana -
Maine - Brian Dumoulin
Maryland - Jarred Tinordi
Massachusetts - Jack Eichel
Michigan - Connor Hellebuyck
Minnesota - Ryan McDonagh
Mississippi - Mathieu Olivier
Missouri - Clayton Keller
Montana -
Nebraska - Neal Pionk
Nevada - Gage Quinney
New Hampshire - Casey DeSmith
New Jersey - Johnny Gaudreau
New Mexico -
New York - Adam Fox
North Carolina - Logan Brown
North Dakota - Luke Johnson
Northern Mariana Islands -
Ohio - J.T. Miller
Oklahoma - Jon Merrill
Oregon - Jacob MacDonald
Pennsylvania - John Gibson
Puerto Rico -
Rhode Island - Noel Acciari
South Carolina - Ryan Hartman
South Dakota -
Tennessee -
Texas - Blake Coleman
Utah - Trevor Lewis
Vermont -
Virginia - Zac Jones
Washington - T.J. Oshie
West Virginia -
Wisconsin - Joe Pavelski
Wyoming -

American Samoa isn't a state. If you're going to include territories, you should include the US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, the Northern Mariana Islands, and Guam on your list as well.

There are no players from these States, but it appears that I accidentally cut out the Northern Mariana Islands and Puerto Rico from the list of states.

I have no idea what is and isn’t a state. I’m just using the states listed on NHL.com.

Like I just posted above, I accidentally deleted the Northern Mariana Islands and Puerto Rico.

Sounds like that means there was at one time a player from Samoa, Northern Mariana Islands, and Puerto Rico in the NHL, but never someone from Guam or the US Virgin Islands.

It doesn’t look like there’s ever been a player from any of those places. So I’m not sure why Guam and the US Virgin Islands aren’t included.

Kane>Fox

For one, no. Kane is a phenomenal offensive player, but Fox is one of the best defensemen in the league. And for two, this team was very light on defensemen, so I basically had to err on the side of picking D whenever I was torn so that the team could be more balanced.

I used NHL.com, so that’s why the States might be a bit off. Zucker & Pearson weren’t born in those states (which is what the NHL website lists) and Sanderson hasn’t played an NHL game yet, so he wasn’t on the list of players that I was looking at.

Zucker grew up in Vegas and I believe its where he says he is from.
Chase Pearson was born in Ontario, but grew up in Georgia. Not in NHL yet, but should be.
Sanderson will be in NHL mid-April.

I’m not arguing about where they should probably be listed, I just used the criteria that wouldn’t make this way too time intensive for myself.

To quote myself:

I'm surprised that of all the people that live in Georgia, not a single NHL player is from there.
