Canucks win this going away. Top 5 point producer in league, Leafs (arguable) #1 defenseman, and a cost-controlled winger entering his prime versus Boeser (underrated player), Myers (bottom pairing D at 6 mill), and Miller (excellent top 6 Offensive forward).

Oof. Tough trade. Boeser and Marner will have the same job in Vancouver, and it's hard to say who does it better. No, I don't want your ranting. Both will be on Petey's wing, PP1, and tasked with scoring goals, not giving up poccession, and being able to play without the puck. Boeser has been doing very good at his job, and yes, i agree, Marner might be a bit better. But that isnt really what the Canucks need. Boeser does his job fine. And is it worth an extra 5M in cap space? Yes, Boeser might be getting 8M next year, still not Marner money. Moreover, Boeser is younger and we will have his management rights longer. Kerfoot isn't nearly as good as Miller, but the point is we are getting a player who can play wing and center cheaper than Miller. However, our 4 centers are practically locked. Petey, Bo, Dickinson, Sutter. Kerfoot is younger, but Miller is better. The intriguing part is taking Myers and giving Rielly back. One of Rielly's biggest strengths is Powerplay quarterback, but he won't be getting that here. He is a good puck mover, but a 1 UFA. He replaces Myers on a pairing with OEL. That pairing would be pretty insane NHL. Value, end of the day, is fair. But for cap reasons, I think Van passes.

Van gets a whole lot softer & smaller.
Already soft enough. Regular season built teams don’t get it done in the PO’s.
Don’t need more LHD unless Hughes is traded for a huge return. OEL isn’t waving.

Vancouver declines, they want to make it past the 1st round of the playoffs.

It’s a pet peeve of mine when people just delete posts. I’m responding to the signing bonus and escrow post you made, and I think I’ve found the relevant part of the CBA if you’re curious.

Section 50.4 (D) (i) of the CBA states:

Each Club shall withhold from each Player who is party to an SPC with that Club (and current Players who retire or otherwise cease playing in the NHL to the extent such Players continue to be paid under an SPC with that Club, including, without limitation, Players who were party to SPCs that have been bought out) an amount of each payment of the Player’s Player Salary and BONUSES for that League Year. The amount of each payment to be so withheld shall be calculated by multiplying the portion of each Player’s Player Salary and BONUSES to be paid during a pay period by the applicable Escrow Percentage that is then in effect during that pay period

I bet on Jake Muzzin being they’re best defensemen but it does go one of two ways

Yeah Muzzin is the best in my opinion. Plays the tougher matchups, better defensively, puts up more even strength points over the last 2-3 seasons. Rielly is obviously a lot younger so I could see it going either way next year.

Rielly was a beast in the playoffs this year, which I really appreciate. Muzzin unfortunately has been injured in the last 2 playoffs which is a big blow.
