Ya at that price i would take Burns.

Not sure why Anderson gets adding into the eichel deal, theres no value added for the sabers as they apparently only want prospects and picks, if we need to move salary include byron or drouin, even if anderson scoring isnt up to where it needs to be, his physicality is something the habs need.

Maybe for 1 year, but he's got 4 left and he's on the wrong side of 35

To be totally honest I would rather keep Burns.

obviously, but that is the only contract getting moved. unless they want to retain 4+ on Karlsson.

Bret Burns was our best D man and had to carry the weight of protecting Karlsson (a purely offensive D man taking 68% D zone faceoffs is a recipe for disaster)
In Montreal where he would see the majority of faceoffs in the offensive zone and QB your 1st team power play he could be lethal again! he hasn't lost much of a step and still has that dynamite shot!
Burns will still be top 4 d till the end of his deal, he's just not top line anymore for a good team.

I'd retain 4 to dump Karlsson. but that would piss me off when he goes somewhere else and tears it up like I know he is still capable of.

Burns @ 5 mill still has plenty of value. Especially considering what NHL GMs paid for Jones and Ristolainen. Sharks decline.

i wonder what he would actually go for.... interesting discussion. dom at the athletic has him at 6.125M per year contract value - maybe against a 2023 2nd he'd retain 2.5M..... i think if MTL can get him sub 6 it's very worth it.
