They aren’t going to want a backup goalie and another left shot defenseman prospect. Pegula also won’t retain to a team he probably won’t allow Eichel to be traded too.

Realistically, the Rangers are the only team that can afford Eichel, cap-wise, return-wise, and fit-wise. Zibanejad probably gets flipped if Eichel comes in, and since his contract is merely half of what Eichel makes, there will be suitors. I think both teams need to get it over with already.

Check again. There's no retention on the "middle ground" trade. You're reading one of the biased examples.

You also can't look too hard at the pieces they don't want, as long as there's enough you do want, ie: the "meat" of the deal. The rest is just gravy and can be flipped for extra value or incorporated into the team.

The meat of an Eichel deal has to be a high end forward prospect. Especially a center one. Rangers don’t have that.

That's fine, but the Rangers DO have high end forward prospects. They have the 1st and 2nd overall picks from the two years prior. You could probably even get one of them if the demands for the rest of the package are adjusted accordingly.

Lafreniere or Kakko, a 1st, and someone to balance salary that could be flipped for something extra, might get it done. One of those + the equivalent of 3 more 1sts just isn't going to happen.

Lafrenière and Kakko aren’t available. Kravstov hasn’t showed a lot for being a top 10 pick.

I have no doubt one of them would be available if Eichel was healthy and the demand was reasonable. There would also be more suitors.

Well he’s not healthy, thus no interest in considering moving either of them. Rather rope the dice and see what they develop into instead of being hasty and trading them.

While this deal includes LHD, the others assets are exactly what the Sabres need.
Trades could be made in the future to balance the defense or fill in other needs.

I agree, I think there is a good chance it will be the Rangers.
In fact, when I saw the Buchnevich trade, I was certain an Eichel trade would follow soon, I was wrong then, I could be wrong in the future.

Karmanos would be a fool to turn this down.
Chytil Perfect a center with a resume equal to Mittelstadt.
Among Filip, Mittelstadt and Cozens Buffalo will find its top line center.
Let remind everyone, Mittelstadt had 17 pts in his last 22 games under the Granato system with Asplund and Thompson on his wing.
Not enough to make one forget about Jack Eichel but sufficient.
Georgiev A player I think Buffalo would trade as they have three GK prospects Levi, UPL and Portillo.
I saw this trade https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/2723493 created by a wings fan: Georgiev for Koskinen and 2022 1st round pick (EDM)
I would think Georgiev has the value of a second and taking on Koskinen's cap is at least a second.
So the Sabres in a round about way pick up another first round pick in the trade.
Lundkvist Great a RHD, fills a need for Buffalo
Robertson While Buffalo is not shopping for a LHD, he is a decent prospect and could be used to fill in gaps in other the line up
          2022 1st
          2023 1st
2023 2nd (Conditional on Eichel player 66% of games in 2021-22)
Up to three additional picks. WOW what a haul.
If this was the offer, Karmanos would be a fool to say no.
