You think I should take out a prospect? Take out the first and put a 2nd or 3rd or something?

Step 1. Tradw for player you want(say McDavid for a 3rd)
Step 2 trade McDavid back to Edmonton for anything
Step 3 trade For McDavid again for a 2nd
Step 4 remove the McDavid for 3rd
Step 5 Remove the 2nd round pick trade
Step 6 remove trade back to Edmonton

Lol new trick I learned. I traded for monahan, sent him back to Calgary, then traded for him again. I then had three trades on the trade list thing. I Reverted the 1st trade, then reverted the 3rd trade, then the 2nd trade and voila.

Yes. I don't think Monahan is worth 2019, 2020 and 2022 first round picks.

To be frank, I don't think CGY should trade Monahan for futures in general. The additions they've made tell a bit different story...they look to compete again, and Pacific is relatively weak division, so making the playoffs shouldn't be too hard.

No, to Ottawa, because clearly Eichel will have his contract voided and sign with Ottawa as a free agent 😤😤😤

    Certainly

Joking aside, I actually think that might be an outcome Eichel considers, namely getting the surgery regardless of what Buffalo says, and if they use that as an excuse to void his contract then so be it, he’d accept the mutual termination and become a free agent, and he’d obviously make just as much money on his next deal. If they decide not to terminate him, then from his POV he’ll at least be healthy for his new team with his preferred surgery, and the Sabres will be forced to move him still, they can’t afford to hang onto him for 5 years out of pettiness when doing so actively hurts the rebuild and future of their organization. And the price would come down in the trade as well most likely, that would be a pretty ballsy move if Eichel wanted to really force the issue here. If the Sabres do eventually approve the surgery I still can’t see him playing for them again, they might want to have him play some games for them in the season to prove he’s healthy again but I think at this point he’s more likely to sit out.

I can't see Eichel doing that tbh. It'd most likely become a legal issue before long. Most likely his agents have adviced against going this route - otherwise I think he would've already gotten the surgery. I gotta imagine a neck injury is a sort of injury that would hinger is normal every day life after all.

Honestly Buffalo had screwed up pretty much everything possible here. And all the time they have to wait on Eichel getting better (spoiler alert - he's not going to, surgery is pretty much the only option left), they lose trade value.

No matter what player it is, moving a $10M contract is going to be challenging. When that player's perceived as a franchise level center... BUF is shooting themselves in the foot with this one, because they have nothing but to lose here. But how much they lose they can control, if they start doing something, and sooner rather than later.
