I would be shocked if both Byfield and Turcotte DIDN’T make the opening season roster.

There is no need for them to start in the NHL this year. Better for each to start in the AHL and get more playing time

2nd overall picks very very rarely spend 2 seasons playing down, yeah Covid contributed but if Byfield can’t force his way on to the team in a top 9 role I think that would be a little disappointing especially considering he already has NHL skills and size.

He does have a taste of what the NHL is about. Why rush him to have him play 10-13 minutes a night when he can get stronger and work on his game in the AHL? Normally he would have to either make the Kings or go back to the OHL because of his age. Better to have him play first or second line center to get the experience and playing time. He can come up later when he earns it

True I forgot about the AHL out this season.
