Not really worthwhile for NYR. Those pieces don't do much for us considering the hole that is being dug at 2C with the deal.

I know right, who would believe that Strome was worth what equates to a 1st + 2nd + 3rd! Ridiculously hilarious!

The trade itself value wise is great for NYR, but is Poehling more of a winger or a C? As of this stage, if he is a C can Chytil step in right now as 2C and be a an upgrade? If NYR are going to end up getting an Eichel or other 1B C, this Strome trade could make sense but until something else happens, it would hurt more than help.

Poehling isn't worth a 1st round pick.

Unless you are giving back a definitively better 2C, there is no reason for the Rangers to trade Strome... Rangers say no

The 1st round pick is nothing special....Lias Andersson was a 1st round pick too and we don't need another one of him. Strome has been a very good 2C for the Rangers, centering our best player, averaging over 60 points a season on an 82 game basis, PLUS his contract is team friendly when you compare his stats to comparable players.....so yeah....trading him for a 1st round semi-bust and a 2nd and 3rd round pick....PLUS RETAINING MONEY is LUDACRIS. You think Strome isn't worth much? Good....Rangers happy to keep him and you can keep your scraps.

Our "scraps" went to the SCF this year and were a top team in the AHL as well, and Poehling was a major reason why. What did the Rags do? Right completely missed the post-season! Didn't Strome have Panarin and Kakko as winger? Even Evans could put up 60 points with them as wingers! He'll my 10 year old could get 60 points with those types of wingers!

The trade was Poehling and 2 draft picks for Strome, and it was they I called scraps, not the entire Habs organization. Poehling didn't play a game in the playoffs and scored 1 goal and 1 assist in 27 games during the season averaging 10 minutes a game....so how was he "a major reason why" for anything at the NHL LEVEL????????? He's not. He's most likely a bust for a 1st round pick...aka...SCRAP. Strome is better than Poehling could ever hope to be, and the picks are throw away picks...2nd and 3rd round. KEEP EM. If Strome is so bad...why trade for him? Keep Poehling and good luck with that. Drury laughs so hard he passes out at this trade offer.

You misunderstood my post, I said the Habs made it to the SCF. I then said Poehling was a big reason the Rocket had one of the best records in the AHL. Poehling isn't a bust he probably makes the Habs this season. I didn't trade for Strome or say he was a bad player. I said he isn't worth a 1st + 2nd + 3rd, facts are facts! Would you give Montreal a 1st + 2nd + 3rd for Drouin? He is a 50-60 point player on almost the same contract! Drouin is worth a mid to late 2nd or an early 3rd but since Strom is a center his value is more like 2 2nds or a 2nd + 3rd not much more though.

First off....who cares what a guy does in the AHL? He has done squat at the NHL level. Second....since Strome has been a Ranger, he averages 0.75/pts per game or 62 points for an 82 game season. That's as good as some 1C around the league and he is a 2C behind Mika. His cap hit at $4.5 is a BARGAIN compared to other players that have his production numbers. I don't care WHO his line mates are, his production is his production (with all due respect to your children). If you think a 2C with this production is worth this insane trade OR two 2nd round picks, then you have no clue what a good 2C center is worth.

Strome isn't a 2C he is more adept as a 3C. Wingers matter when the center isn't the guy driving the play. Danault put up 50 points playing on our top line that doesn't mean he is a 1st line center either. Strome would struggle to put up 60 points without Panarin and Kakko on his wings. He would be lucky if he got 40 points. Poehling hasn't had any success cracking the NHL lineup but he has also only played 27 NHL games so really hasn't had a legitimate shot at it either. Also some players take a bit longer to develop. What a player does at the AHL level clearly matters because that is what earns them a callup, otherwise they would never be called up!

Funny, because I have watched every game the Rangers have played since they got Strome and he has been a 2C for every one of them and played very well from day 1. When Panarin was out, he still scored. When Mika was hurt, he stepped up his game and helped the team during that span. The argument that he is not a 2C is BS.....he is and has been since joining the Rangers. And he is a good 2C at that. I doubt you have seen a handful of Ranger games since Strome joined the team, because if you had, you would know better.

Then why does every Rangers ACGM on here say they need a true 2C? Cause Strome is not a true 2C! You seem to be the only Rags fan that thinks he is!

Yeah, posters on here are the experts, not the coaches who play Strome as a 2C or the team that signed him as a 2C. LOL.

Just cause he is the ONLY choice as a 2C DOESN'T make him a 2C!

Yeah, guess his consistent production and sound defensive play doesn't matter. Who needs a 60+ point 2C.....more like a 3C at that production level, right? Keep dreaming kid, you have no clue. Guess that's why a Habs fan wants to give up a 1st round pick (that is so good according to you), plus a 2nd and 3rd round pick....because Strome is a 3C. LOL.
